Scream 7 Trailer Keeps Its Biggest Returning Character Off Screen

Guess Who’s Not in the Trailer?

Scream fans are ready to unleash their inner Ghostface, but hold on to your popcorn because we have some juicy gossip! Remember good ol’ Stu Macher? Yep, that lovable lunatic from the first movie, and he’s nowhere to be found in the first trailer for Scream 7! Can you believe it?

Sidney’s New Adventure!

Back in the game is our favorite final girl, Sidney Prescott, portrayed by the iconic Neve Campbell. This time, she’s traded in the familiar sights of Woodsboro for a fresh start in a new town. But don’t worry, she’s not going solo! She’s got her husband Mark (yes, that one, played by the dashing Joel McHale) and her adorable daughter, Tatum, who takes her name from the legendary Rose McGowan’s character. Are we ready for a Ghostface family reunion?

Introducing the Sibling Duo

As the plot unfolds, Sidney and her daughter will face off against the relentlessly creepy Ghostface. But don’t fear! They have help from the fabulous Meeks-Martin siblings, Chad and Mindy, who you might remember thanks to Mason Gooding and Jasmin Savoy Brown. And guess who’s also back? That’s right! Gale Weathers, played by the ever-fabulous Courteney Cox. Talk about a killer team!

Is This for Real?

The trailer throws us some classic Scream shenanigans. We meet a couple of influencer wannabes who make the bold choice of visiting Sidney’s Woodsboro digs, which has been revamped into a “psycho killer B&B.” Honestly, it’s like Airbnb meets horror flick! Can we book a night there?

Mask Debates and Killer Nonsense

In a clear attempt at metaphors, Sidney confronts Ghostface on the phone, saying he’s hiding behind a mask. But come on, buddy, you ARE wearing a mask! That’s like saying a bear isn’t furry just because it’s hiding in a cave!

Drama Behind the Scenes

But that’s not all folks! The drama thickens behind the camera as Campbell seemed to hand down the legacy to her on-screen sisters, Tara and Sam Carpenter, played by Jenna Ortega and Melissa Barrera. However, after Barrera’s public support for Palestine, she was unceremoniously booted from the project, taking Tara and the director along with her. Ouch!

Old Faces, New Tricks

In a twist straight out of horror lore, Paramount decided to bring back the familiar faces that made Scream, well, Scream! Kevin Williamson returns to direct, breathing new life into a script he co-wrote with Guy Busick. And yes, if you hear whispers, they might just be bringing back the legendary David Arquette as Deputy Dewey! Get your horror hearts racing!

Stu’s Mysterious Absence

Now, let’s address the elephant in the room—or should I say the ghost in the movie? Despite the rumors swirling, Stu’s cameo seems to be kept under wraps. The only hint we get? A tease at the end of the trailer where he echoes, ‘This is gonna be fun.’ Classic Stu! But will it really be fun without his screeching laughter?

Mark Your Calendar!

Scream 7 is headed to theaters on February 27, 2026. Let’s hope we get to see our goofy Ghostface in action!
