Marvel’s Mischievous Adventure

Ah, remember back in 2021? We were all glued to our screens, binge-watching the antics of Loki, the God of Mischief, in his Marvel Disney+ series. It was the kind of show that made nerds rejoice and casual viewers scratch their heads. Season 1 had everyone talking, but let’s spotlight that legendary fifth episode that was practically a buffet of nerdy references!

A Trip to the Void

“Journey Into Mystery” dropped us into the Void, a trippy, post-apocalyptic junkyard at the end of the timeline where the Time Variance Authority (TVA) tossed all their rejected realities and variants. In this glorious episode, we spotted everything from Frog Thor to something called the Thanos-Copter. Like Easter eggs on steroids, right?

The Mojoverse Mishap

But wait! There was a wild idea that Loki’s creator, Michael Waldron, pitched that Marvel shot down faster than a Loki prank gone wrong. During a recent Reddit AMA (that’s “Ask Me Anything” for the unfamiliar), Waldron spilled the beans. When asked about creativity within the boundless Marvel universe, he casually mentioned, “There’s a lot of creative freedom within the MCU.”

When Ideas Go Bust

Then he dropped the kicker: “I think Loki is the weirdest thing in the world. I can’t recall many times I was told no, except maybe that time I had a wild idea to include the Mojoverse in the Void.” Cue the dramatic music!

The Mojoverse Explained

Now, for the uninitiated, the Mojoverse is this bizarre dimension governed by Mojo, a larger-than-life character who’s obsessed with everything television—and I mean, everything! Think of it as a darkly comedic take on the world of TV ratings and viewer manipulation. It often pops up in the X-Men animated series like an unwelcome guest at a party.

Missing Alligators

Don’t feel too sorry for Waldron, though. He wasn’t too heartbroken about leaving out the live-action Mojoverse. He revealed his ultimate desire was pretty simple: “I just wanted Loki to meet an alligator version of himself, to be honest.” And come on, can you blame him? Who wouldn’t want to see a mischievous alligator in a Loki costume?

Passing the Torch

Waldron wrapped up his time on Loki and passed the baton to indie darlings Justin Benson and Aaron Moorhead as season 1 concluded. After that, he got busy writing Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness and Avengers: Doomsday. Now he’s out promoting his new cheeky Hulu series Chad Powers, which gave us this delightful week of AMA excitement filled with behind-the-scenes Marvel secrets.
