The Sad News About Diabolical

So, remember that wild animated roller-coaster called Diabolical? Well, it looks like Amazon has decided to send it packing. Co-creator Eric Kripke recently spilled the beans, saying that a second season is about as likely as catching a unicorn. Yup, it’s not happening! They gave it a solid push, but sadly, the viewership numbers just didn’t make the cut.

What Was Diabolical?

Launched in March 2022, Diabolical was a delightful mashup of chaos wrapped up in snazzy animation styles and totally unpredictable stories. Featuring a star-studded lineup including Seth Rogen, Awkwafina, and even Andy Samberg, it seemed like a recipe for a big hit. But shockingly, even with a cool 97% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, viewers didn’t flock to the screen.

What’s Next for the Boys Franchise?

Don’t cry for the Boys universe just yet! The live-action spinoff Gen V is still alive and kicking, pushing the franchise into new territories. Plus, there’s The Boys: Mexico in the works, brought to life by Blue Beetle writer Gareth Dunnet-Alcocer. According to Kripke, they’re just getting started with the pilot script and he’s optimistic about its future.

More Spinoffs on the Horizon

Kripke also teased that there are plans for a second season of Vought Rising—if the stars align! Prime Video has been nothing but supportive so far, but it’s a business at the end of the day, folks. Let’s just hope viewers show up this time around.
