Sophie Turner: The Unlikeliest Happy Ending
Let’s face it, the last season of HBO’s
Game of Thrones was about as popular as a soggy sandwich at a picnic. From the shocking demise of Daenerys Targaryen to King Bran getting the crown (yes, the guy who couldn’t even get up from his wheelchair for half the series), it left a lot of fans feeling like they just bit into a rotten apple. We’ve invested years into these characters, only to be slapped with endings that felt more ‘meh’ than ‘magnificent.’
Spin-offs Galore!
But fear not, dear fans! The world of Westeros is coming back with a bang! With hits like
House of the Dragon and the upcoming Dunk and Egg adventures, the realm is stirring once again. There are rumors swirling about a sequel series that might pick up where all the drama left off! And who wouldn’t be excited to see where the stories go? With ideas ranging from a
Jon Snow spin-off to Arya Stark’s epic quest for whatever lies beyond the horizon, the creative gears are definitely turning. However, not everyone is jumping at the chance to dive back into the fray.
Sophie Turner on a Comeback
In a recent chat with
The Direct, our beloved Sophie Turner, known for her role as Sansa Stark, shared her mixed feelings about possibly returning. “Show me the money!” she joked when asked if she’d step back into her formidable character’s shoes. “I don’t know, I think it would be hard but also amazing to come back to it.”
Happy Endings are Hard to Top
What makes her hesitant? Well, unlike many of her former co-stars, Sansa actually snagged a pretty sweet conclusion to her tale. From surviving an avalanche of horror—abuse, manipulation, and all sorts of emotional gymnastics—she ended up reclaiming the North and becoming its queen! Now that’s what we call character development! In a bittersweet twist, Turner feels a sense of closure with Sansa’s story, which isn’t something most of her cast buddies can brag about.
Leave The Happy Ending Alone?
“I was very happy with Sansa’s ending in
Game of Thrones, and no one else was really happy with their ending,” Turner shared with a chuckle. “I feel like I got a good one, and so I don’t know if I could revisit it.” Fair point, Sophie! There’s a real risk that the folks behind the scenes might be tempted to throw her back into the chaos. It’s hard to resist the urge to poke at a character who has finally found her groove! But Turner is keeping an open mind, just in case.
Never Say Never!
“Maybe it would be a blast, or maybe it would be like trying to relive a fantastic dream that you just can’t recreate. I would need to check out a script first,” she mused. Who knows? Perhaps the right storyline could bring back the spark we all loved in the first place. Until then, let’s keep our fingers crossed for a sequel that does justice to the characters we adore!
