Avengers: Doomsday – A Bit of Woe and a Whole Lot of Whimsy!
Let’s talk about
Doomsday. With a name like that, you probably think the next Avengers flick will be all about gloom and doom. And guess what? You’re right! This movie is set to feature none other than the notorious Doctor Doom, strutting in like he owns the place—and he might just be Tony Stark, our dear departed Iron Man. Talk about a dramatic entrance!
Oh, and let’s not forget the destruction of multiple dimensions, leaving Logan and Wade Wilson to pick up the pieces of their supposedly saved world from
Deadpool & Wolverine. If
Doomsday and its sequel,
Avengers: Secret Wars, are anything like
Infinity War and
Endgame, we’re looking at a somber ending where Earth’s Mightiest Heroes might just bite the dust. Yikes!
Simu Liu’s Thrilling Perspective
But hold on! Not everyone is sulking in despair. Enter Simu Liu, our charming star from
Shang-Chi. When asked by
ScreenRant how he feels about
Doomsday, his response was a chipper, “Yeah, three: dream come true!” Now that’s the spirit!
Liu goes on to say, “It feels, in a lot of ways, like a love letter to the entire genre of superhero movies. And I think there’s something really fun about that.” We love a little optimism, don’t we? Especially when we’re bracing ourselves for a movie that promises to up the ante.
The Marvel Multiverse Saga Continues
As part of Marvel’s Phase Six (the finale of the Multiverse Saga, no less),
Doomsday aims to recapture the thrill of
Infinity War and
Endgame, only bigger! Our Marvel multiverse is twisting and turning with not one, but TWO teams of Avengers running around—one led by Bucky Barnes and another by Captain America himself, Sam Wilson. Get ready for a superhero showdown!
Among the old and new faces, we may see the much-anticipated return of fan-favorite characters like Namor from
Black Panther: Wakanda Forever and of course, none other than Shang-Chi. The film has ambitious plans to reel in the Fantastic Four as well, making it a must-see event!
Nostalgia Overload
Now let’s spice things up with a dash of nostalgia!
Doomsday is digging through the archives and bringing back stars from the original Fox
X-Men movies like Patrick Stewart and Ian McKellen. Is it just us, or does it sound like a superhero reunion party?
Sadly, one notable absence will be Kang the Conqueror, thanks to some unfortunate off-screen drama involving the actor. Originally, he was supposed to be the big bad villain here, and plans had to be tossed into the multiverse blender. What a plot twist!
What Lies Ahead for Shang-Chi?
Although director Destin Daniel Cretton has switched gears to helm
Spider-Man: Brand New Day, we’re still left hanging about Shang-Chi’s role in all of this chaos. Liu, however, is thrilled to jump into the superhero frenzy—“There are just so many actors in it,” he gushes. “Getting to work with those people as peers is really incredible because I grew up watching so many of them.”
Even if things go haywire for our beloved heroes, at least we’ll know they had a blast acting out these epic moments!
