Dutton Ranch: Natalie Alyn Lind on Becoming a Cowboy… and Art the Clown

Imagine waking up every day and feeling like it’s Halloween! This is the everyday life of Natalie Alyn Lind, who stars in the latest spin-off of Dutton Ranch in the Yellowstone universe. Lind takes on the role of Oreana Lynn Jackson, the feisty daughter of local tough guy Rob-Will Jackson (played by Jai Courtney). Before saddling up in Texas, she’s also graced our screens in hits like Gotham, The Gifted, and The Goldbergs. And just wait, she once portrayed Art the Clown, the terrifying mime from the Terrifier movies. Spooky, right?

From City Girl to Cowpoke

This actress didn’t just hop on a horse without a second thought; she had to wrangle in some serious training for Dutton Ranch. “Man oh man, was it a whirlwind!” Lind recalls. “First, I auditioned, got the call to Texas faster than you can say ‘Ya hooo,’ and BAM! I was off to Cowboy Camp as soon as I touched down.” The emotions of happiness mixed with a touch of intimidation hit her like a lasso at that moment—but all positive vibes with maximum excitement!

Yeehaw! The Joy of Cutting Cows

While Cowboy Camp offered plenty of fun, one activity stood out for her: cutting. Not the kind of cutting you do at art class, mind you. Lind explains, “Cutting is when you single out a cow from the herd and keep it from breaking free. It’s like a wild video game come to life!” Forget level-up; she really got to play cowboy!

Childhood Dreams Come True

As it turns out, Lind was a massive fan of Yellowstone before she even thought about being in the show. “I’ve binge-watched every single prequel and totally left my couch imprint on the couch!” she admits. Thanks to her amazing manager, she landed the role of a lifetime in a world she adored.

The Cowboy Code

During Cowboy Camp, Lind and her co-stars transitioned from starry-eyed fans to characters living in the Yellowstone universe. “In Cowboy training, they don’t just teach us how to look great on camera; they drill these skills into us like a cowboy ropes up a calf!” she exclaims. Roping may not be her character’s thing, but she’s ready to bust that myth wide open if need be!

Fan Theories: Bring It On!

Lind’s no stranger to passionate fan speculation. Having worked in franchises like Batman and X-Men, she knows just how sharp the fans’ minds can be. “Some fans have clocked the plot twists before the show even airs! It’s kind of impressive and a tad intimidating at times. Honestly, I felt like the new kid in school, but it’s all been great feedback!” She gives a thumbs up with a grin.

A Welcoming Cast

Her castmates, such as Kelly Reilly and Cole Hauser, have welcomed her with open arms, easing any anxiety she felt on the first day. “Meeting seasoned actors is like stepping into a world of legends, but they’re nothing like their characters—super warm and friendly!” Lind shares. Watching them develop their iconic roles inspires her every day.

Horror Heats Her Heart

And here’s where things get spooky! Lind’s genuine passion for horror films means she’s dived into the genre herself. “I just wrapped my horror movie called Halloween Store, and I want it to live long enough for sequels!” She adores Michael Myers and dreams of portraying a horror icon—yeah, just think of her as the creepy killer. It’s safe to say she’s all about embracing the oddities!

Her Halloween Fun

Every Halloween, she takes a break from being the glamorous star to transform into something quirky. “I don’t do ‘hot girl’ costumes; I’m that super quirky nerd who rocks out in the corner!” she laughs.

Make-up Magic

Lind has the good fortune of working with John Caglione Jr., a makeup legend. This guy has created looks for some serious heavyweights like Heath Ledger’s Joker! “He knows I’m a horror fan, so he hooked me up with a prosthetic piece of Art the Clown from the movies. I was shaking! But yep, you guessed it—I went as Art for Halloween, and it was insane!”

The Horror Love Letter

Her drive-goes beyond mere passion; Lind produced Halloween Store as a tribute to classic horror films. “The movie is my love letter to horror!” she gushes. “Old-school references galore! When I’m stressed, I wind down to my favorite horror flicks, so I wanted to channel all that nostalgia into my work!” She can’t wait to see horror fans dig into the Easter eggs!

New Horizons

As for the Yellowstone audience, Lind wants everyone to know that Dutton Ranch isn’t just a rehash of what’s come before. “We’ve got our fresh spin on the Dutton saga, and we can’t wait for fans to get in on the action with us!”
