The Time-Traveling Epic Comes to an End

So, here we are! Remember when Outlander kicked off back in 2014? It was all about time travel, romance, and the occasional Scottish battle, with our favorite characters like Claire, Jamie, Brianna, and Roger making us laugh and cry. Fast forward over a decade, and the show is finally wrapping up with its eighth season. But don’t worry, there’s still some drama to gobble up with the prequel series Blood of My Blood. Because we all love a good backstory, right?

Returning to a Changed World

Actors Sophie Skelton and Richard Rankin, who played the adorable Brianna and Roger since 2016, are here to share their outlandishly strange experiences post-show. They recently had a sit-down with Den of Geek to spill the beans on what happens when you leave a show that feels like a time capsule. Spoiler: it’s a bit of a shocker!

From Time Capsules to Time Gaps

Sophie described her moment of bewilderment when she left the show. “No one warned me about the time warp that Outlander created,” she said. Imagine hopping out of a time machine only to discover that your friends have all leveled up in real life—new jobs, marriages, mini-me’s running around. She thought she was returning to her old London crowd only to find out everyone was busy being adults while she was busy wielding swords and pretending to be centuries away in Scotland.

Meanwhile, Richard chimed in with his own mind-blowing experience. “It feels like the last nine years flew past in the blink of an eye. One second I’m filming, and the next, I’m scrolling through social media, being hit with nostalgia bombs that remind me of those ‘remember when’ moments—only to realize they were seven years ago. Yikes!” So yeah, talk about a reality check!

Exploring the Past

Both cast members had to get their historical hats on to prepare for their roles in Outlander. They hit up some epic historical spots, like the Wardlaw Mausoleum and the fields of Culloden, channeling their inner history buffs. Sophie even shared a hilarious encounter at a local bookstore during one of their outings. They were on a mission to grab Gabaldon’s latest book when the shopkeeper innocently exclaimed, “Did you know they’re making a series out of this?” They had to bite their tongues and not break the poor guy’s heart.

Let the Adventure Continue!

And there you have it! The first episode of Outlander’s eighth season is now streaming on Starz, so grab your popcorn and buckle up for one last wild ride through time and drama! Who knows what might happen next? Time will tell, literally!
