James Cameron Promises Alita: Battle Angel 2 Is Still Coming
Hold Your Horses, Alita Fans!
Never, I repeat, never underestimate James Cameron. This guy is practically an entertainment wizard. Time after time, he’s jumped into projects that made everyone raise an eyebrow, whether it’s splurging a fortune on Terminator 2—you know, the one with the pesky robot from the future—or revamping the entire experience of watching the Titanic meet its watery fate. Let’s not even start on how he took a stroll through the forest of Fern Gully and came out with a blockbuster!
Alita Is Still in the Game!
So, when word gets out that there’s a chance for a sequel to the peculiar sci-fi ride that is Alita: Battle Angel, we’re all ears. If James Cameron says it’s going to happen, you best believe that we’re in for a treat! According to him, “Robert Rodriguez and I have sworn a blood oath to do at least one more Alita movie.” Yep, I’m not making this up!
What’s Cooking in Cameron’s Kitchen?
And the plot thickens! Cameron has spilled some beans about his plans: “Now that I have a cozy little home in Austin, Texas, not far from Robert’s place, we’re getting serious about this. Once I wrap up the mix for Avatar, we’ll dive in!” Talk about new neighbors and movie magic!
Alita: A Cybernetic Rock Star
Written by Cameron and his buddy Laeta Kalogridis, and based on Yukito Kishiro’s awesome manga Battle Angel Alita, this flick features Rosa Salazar as our very own cybernetic heroine. She’s plucked from a junkyard by the good-hearted Dr. Ido (Cristoph Waltz) and evolves from a junker to a badass Motorball player—and eventually a revolutionary! And let’s not forget how they digitally gave her those oversized manga-style eyes that made her pop!
Mixed Reviews but Strong Fans!
Now, while Alita might not have broken box office records in the U.S., it managed to snag double its budget globally. Critics? Well, they were divided—some were wowed by its flashy visuals, while others sighed at its storytelling. Nevertheless, Alita continues gaining a loyal fanbase—and it’s growing like a weed!
For the Fans!
Cameron, ever so grateful as he is, acknowledged, “I appreciate the loyalty of the Alita fans.” But truth be told, I don’t think they need fan enthusiasm to get this sequel going. Robert Rodriguez is a trailblazer in his own right; he’s always off making the next wild film, like turning his kid’s stories into a movie about a shark boy and lava girl! And then he pulls a magic trick and revisits it years later!
The Final Verdict
In the grand scheme of things, when James Cameron says something will happen, it’s practically set in stone. With Rodriguez backing him up, we can confidently say that Alita will be gracing our screens once more. Buckle up because she’s revving up to return to theaters soon!
