Gaten Matarazzo’s New Adventure

So, guess what? Gaten Matarazzo, our beloved Dustin from Stranger Things, is diving headfirst into a totally wacky flick called Pizza Movie.

A Movie for the Ages

Now, Gaten’s not quite sure how the Stranger Things fans will react, but he’s pretty confident their parents will be raising eyebrows. You can just hear them saying, “Oh, look! It’s Dustin!” But then, bam! The movie takes a turn and they’ll be thinking, “Uh-oh, what did we just watch?”

The Quest for Pizza

This movie is a far cry from Dustin’s heroic battles against Demogorgons. Instead, Matarazzo plays a guy named Jack, who, along with his buddy Montgomery (played by the hilarious Sean Giambrone from The Goldbergs), is on a bizarre quest. Their goal? Just two flights of stairs down to grab a pizza, after popping some funky pills known as M.I.N.T.S.

Trippy Challenges Ahead

But surprise! It’s not a simple pizza run. Oh no! Jack and Montgomery find themselves trapped in a surreal, candy-colored nightmare complete with obstacles that make going to get a pizza seem like climbing Everest. The pills come with some wild side effects, like facing your worst fears. And the cast has some real doozies: everything from “war” to “sharks with human legs.” Yes, you heard that right!

Shark Talk and Push-ups

Matarazzo even scratches his head wondering why he’s scared of sharks when he’s literally swum with them! Talk about a pizza-fueled identity crisis!

Now, on the subject of looking cool, Giambrone insists he’s a total alpha. But just to prove it, someone challenges him to do 20 push-ups on the spot. And guess what? This guy actually pulls it off! The crowd, including scream queen Lulu Wilson who plays their pal Lizzy, goes wild.

Flexing Genre Muscles

Speaking of Lulu, she’s taking a refreshing break from her haunting roles in Hill House and those intense Becky flicks. She’s over the moon about Pizza Movie. “As soon as I read the script, I knew I HAD to play Lizzy!” she says, still pinching herself like, “Is this real life?”

The Villainous RA

And let’s not forget Jack Martin from La Brea, who plays the role of the villain—one overly-serious college RA. He’s having a blast being the ultimate psychopath. “They let me go crazy with this role!” he laughs, while McElhaney jokingly agrees, “Not much of a stretch for you, Jack!”

Origins of Pizza Madness

Creators McElhaney and Nick Kocher came up with the idea for Pizza Movie back in college, but it took a while to bake, much like a good pizza. They’re not spilling the beans on what’s real and what’s not but admit that everyone has struggled ordering food while a little tipsy. They’ve been there, and yes, they’ve definitely gotten high and ordered pizza!
