Galactus is Coming to Disney+

Hold onto your capes, folks! Marvel is finally bringing the Fantastic Four: First Steps to Disney+ on Wednesday, November 5, 2025! That’s just over three months since its big-screen debut on July 25, and let’s just say, the box office run was good, but it didn’t break any glass ceilings.

A Fresh Take on a Familiar Fable

First Steps is all about starting anew! Directed by Matt Shakman, it breaks away from what we’ve seen in previous adaptations—bye-bye, awkward love triangles and overly dark plots. Instead, it leans into the delightful silliness of the comics that kicked off the Marvel Universe back in 1961. The film features Vanessa Kirby as Sue Storm (that’s the Invisible Woman for those not in the know), and Joseph Quinn as Johnny Storm (aka the Human Torch). They’re joined by the ever-charming Pedro Pascal playing Mr. Fantastic, Reed Richards, and Ebon Moss-Bachrach as Ben Grimm, the lovable Thing.

1960s Vibes and a Galactic Threat

Set in a retro-futuristic 1960s world on Earth-828, First Steps has our favorite superhero family dealing with newfound fame and fortune until their lives are turned upside down by none other than the Silver Surfer! This cosmic dude, played by Julia Garner, pops in to let them know that Galactus, a planet-eating giant (voiced by Ralph Ineson), has their Earth on his menu. And you thought your family reunions were tense!

When Galactus offers a rather grim deal—spare Earth in exchange for Reed and Sue’s baby boy, Franklin—the Fantastic Four must rally together to save their home and redeem their superhero cred. No pressure, right?

Marvel’s Latest Attempt at Cultural Relevance

Let’s not kid ourselves; Marvel’s been trying hard to maintain its cool factor after the wild success of Avengers: Endgame. First Steps did manage to double its production budget—which is like getting a solid pass on a pop quiz. And while it earned some praise (including a shining 3.5-star review from Den of Geek), it didn’t quite set the internet ablaze like other superhero flicks. After all, it did debut right before DC’s shiny new Superman movie…

But wait, there’s more! This film isn’t just a standalone adventure. The story does a good job of wrapping things up, but of course, we have a post-credits scene that keeps viewers hanging. First Steps hits Disney+ nearly a year before we get to see Avengers: Doomsday, which promises to bring back Earth’s Mightiest Heroes along with the fan-favorite Doctor Doom making his grand entrance into the MCU.
