Daredevil Goes Full Throttle
Picture this: the fourth episode of
Daredevil: Born Again Season 2 starts with a jolt of chaos, courtesy of our favorite not-so-friendly neighborhood assassin, Bullseye (aka Dex Pointdexter). He waltzes into a retro diner, orders a milkshake—because what’s more soothing before a massacre than a sweet, creamy treat?—and then decides to ring up the Anti-Vigilante Police Force. Spoiler alert: this doesn’t end well for the cops. In a scene straight out of a LOONEY TUNES episode, Bullseye takes aim at everything from cups to cutlery, dispatching officers with deadly finesse. When the dust settles, he turns to a terrified patron and cheerfully quips, “Oh, don’t worry, I’m one of the good guys!”
From Troubled Soul to Full-Blown Villain
Now, there’s pure magic in that moment for Bullseye enthusiasts! It’s not just a thrill ride; it’s a climactic transformation of Dex from a tortured soul into the poster-child of supervillainy. This little murder spree nudges us back into a classic comic storyline where Bullseye flirted with heroism—albeit in his own deadly style.
Thunderbolts or Bust
Drumroll, please! Bullseye’s journey takes a wild turn when he joins the
Thunderbolts, Marvel’s not-so-heroic answer to the
Suicide Squad. Enter Norman Osborn, the businessman turned green goblin, who seizes the chaos from the
Civil War that put the superhero scene into a frenzy. He grabs Bullseye and slaps him onto the Thunderbolts team like a badge of honor—because why not use a prolific killer for the government’s dirty work?
From Skrulls to Superhero Status
Now here’s the kicker. After all the tussling with shapeshifting Skrulls and a live TV murder that would make Charles Bronson proud, Osborn elevates himself to Director of S.H.I.E.L.D. Suddenly, these Thunderbolts morph into the new Avengers! Bullseye, in his short-lived glory, gets a new gig as
Hawkeye—a role he embraces with all the enthusiasm of a kid in a candy store, blissfully ignoring the morality of it all.
The Dark Side of Redemption
Unlike your average villain looking for a snazzy redemption arc, Bullseye doesn’t compare his past with the future. He relishes in the chaos, purely motivated by the thrill of the kill. His attitude is comically summarized in
Dark Avengers #2 when he shrugs off a comment about his mother’s pride with a callous joke. “You know, it’s too bad I killed my mother in high school; she would have loved this,” he cheerfully remarks, as he strips off his superhero costume!
Identity Crisis Alert!
But wait! There’s more! In the miniseries
Dark Reign: Hawkeye, we dive into the twisted psyche of Bullseye. Things go haywire when he realizes he’s snagged the name of Hawkeye and tries to juggle the facade while killing innocents. Cue the hallucinations of another Bullseye mocking him, turning his life into a comedic tragedy.
Welcome Back, Villain!
Now, with
Born Again playing out Bullseye’s darker, unrepentant side, we’re ready to let him off the leash! Hang onto your milkshakes—this season aims to showcase Bullseye in all his chaotic brilliance, as the line between heroism and villainy blurs like an old TV set with bad reception.
