The latest trailer for our beloved, yet terrifying, show hints that the townsfolk are still trying to survive a never-ending nightmare. Boyd, played by the charmingly brooding Harold Perrineau, is drowning in confusion as he grapples with the growing shadows that surround him.

What Happened Last Season?

In the dramatic finale of season 3, our hearts dropped as we witnessed Jim’s tragic encounter with the ominous Man in Yellow. Major characters became just as vulnerable as the background extras! Meanwhile, Tabitha and Jade got some cosmic news—they’ve already been reincarnated multiple times. Talk about déjà vu! And just when we thought we could breathe easy, we learned that the town’s creatures can’t be killed; they just hit the restart button. Yikes!

Boyd, standing by his wife’s grave, solemnly declares, “Something’s different. I’m changing, and I don’t know if I like this new me.”

Boyd is clearly at his breaking point. Once a beacon of hope, he now resembles a figure people might prefer to avoid in the grocery store. The shadows are seeping into his psyche, haunting his dreams, and honestly, who doesn’t hate existential dread interrupting their beauty sleep? As the clock ticks, Boyd realizes they’re running out of time to defeat the darkness.

Destined for Villainy?

We also catch a glimpse of Boyd unleashing some pent-up frustration on Acosta, played by the wonderfully skeptical Samantha Brown. “You think you’re some kind of hero,” she accuses. “You’re a monster.” Wow, talk about a twist! It seems like Boyd’s journey this season might position him as an unintended villain, leaving us all wondering how those who depended on him will cope with the shift in dynamics.
