Tanman32123: Holy fucking shit. I haven't seen a movie quiet this good in awhile. It's phenomenal. The acting is amazing and award worthy, The directing is right on spot. Even the location scouts should get props for their work.
The story is so well told, And those twist at the end! Oh man, edge of your seat. I absolutely LOVED the very last scene.
I'm not gonna spoil it. But that last scene and the way it ended before the credits was fucking amazing. I'd pick this movie for film of the year. Go see this movie.
|Muddled, Yet Intriguing|

cress: The first hour is solid, but some of the twists are unrealistic and a bit confusing.
I really liked the director's visual aesthetic in this film. There's an ominous and foreboding quality to his shots. The story becomes a bit muddled during the second hour, as I could not buy into Jackman's character doing what he did to the kid he thought kidnapped his daughter. Then there's the copycat subplot that's thrown in, and the Melissa Leo character plot twist that is a bit confusing. After researching online, a lot of the plot twists make more sense, but initially it is confusing.
Jackman is terrific. He should get another nomination for Best Actor. Gyllenhaal is less than perfect, as he is "hit or miss" in some scenes. The scene in the car between him and Jackman--he was terrible, as Jackman schooled his ass in Acting 101.
Not a bad film, with great performances, but a letdown due to a jumbled narrative.
