Tanman32123: This was amazing..
Right from the start.. The amazingly done camera work in the opening 5 minutes just gave me that eerie feeling that something scary was about to happen, but then wait?
until boom, something happens and you never even expected it, hell it wasn't even that scary, but because of the camera angles, the directing, the acting and the score, you can't help yourself but be a bit afraid.
As for everyone commenting on the ending and how it 'Sucked' Watch for yourself. i liked the ending. Anyways, Highly recommend this film, extremely well done.
|A great addition to the genre|

GreenLensman: I went to see Dark Skies a few days after its release and just recently went again. I've been bragging about this movie to my friends for a while now. I got the same feeling after watching it a second time, a little jumpy, and afraid to walk around in the dark, which is generally what a proper scary movie should do. The theories explained and strange phenomena witnessed in the movie remind me of movies like "2012", which is a good thing, because unlike "2012" this movie has some great character development and frightening sequences that will either leave you scarred or satisfied.

Ip_man: I disagree with the previous reviews.this movie was 90 min long and during those 90 minutes almost nothing happened.the characters in this movie seemed to be lacking that function called 'brain' and keep following every stupid move with an even stupider move. There are almost no aliens in this movie...you barely see some (bad cgi) in the last scene.why do they come to kidnap that family ? no answer. they just chose some randomly. whenever the family seeks help - everyone seem to be completely careless...police ? nah...they don't give a fuck...even when the child's body looks like a Swiss cheese...there are many other flaws but the bottom line is that this movie doesn't explain anything logically and the ending is pointless.

Morbius: The acting was... On par with other films in the genre. Nothing mind blowing.
The plot. With one or two surprises, and only one specific "whoa" moment, it was paper thin. Again, nothing new - nothing mind blowing.
If you watch M. Night Shyamalan's Signs before Dark Skies you will notice over 20 "homages" (read: blatant rip off) from the it!
As far as abduction movies goes it actually IS one of the better films out there... Which is saying nothing since most of the others are poor.

cress: This is SIGNS meets POLTERGEIST. If you liked those films, you'll probably like this.
It's about an hour of creepy, intelligent set up, with the last half hour being a lackluster conclusion. There is nothing mind-blowing in the concept, but it at least tries to make you empathize with this family. It isn't scary, but definitely has scenes that are creepy.
The performances are fine. JK Simmons shows up near the end and probably gives the most restrained performance that I've seen of him. He is very effective, though.
I liked it overall, and was surprised at how well-done it was. Some may complain there wasn't enough action or aliens, but I didn't need that to enjoy the story of a family dealing with strange things in their house.
