| Tanman32123: Flight was a terrific film, Denzel delivers like he always has and always will, I'd throw him an Oscar for this one lol The ending is very sad, or at least i though so lol Highly recommend this film :) |

| cress: Robert Zemeckis returns to the world of live-action film, his first in 12 years. "Flight" is a welcome return for him, though the ending is a little too predictable.
The cast is excellent. Denzel gives a great performance as a boosing, coke-using airline pilot, whose heroic action in the cockpit saves numerous lives in a mid-air emergency. He meets a heroin user in the hospital, and they form a bond--two broken souls connecting in a haze of despair and loneliness. Kelly Reilly gives a great performance as that heroin user. I kept wondering, "Who is THAT?" Don Cheadle and Bruce Greenwood are both very good as well. And John Goodman gives a scene-stealing performance in his small role.
I could see what was going to happen at the NTSB hearing in the film's climax a mile away, but that's alright. I had more of a problem with the wrap-up afterwards, with Denzel and his son in the final scene. It seemed contrived. Also, I wouldn't say this is a film to watch for alcoholics needing inspiration in kicking their addictions. Denzel only gets sober when he goes to prison. Still, this is a meaty drama with excellent peformances--and that sequence with the airplane crashing is intense.
