cress: This is the best Pixar film of the last few years. I know--Pixar didn't make this. But why is it that other studios are putting out better animated features, while they are mining their old classics with subpar sequels? Except Toy Story 3...that film was great.
Genndy Tartakovsky does a great job here. His kinetic visual style really works well in a feature film. The dark humor is a welcome change of pace from most animated offerings. I wish Pixar would take more chances like this, instead of always playing it safe with their more 'kid-friendly' films. I laughed a lot, and the film comes with its obligatory tender moments as well. Young and older fans of animation will enjoy this film. I don't think I'd let kids under 5-years-old watch it, though. It can probably freak them the fuck out.
