"Punisher: War Zone" Cut to be PG-13?

"Punisher: War Zone" Cut to be PG-13?Submit Comment
LatinoReview has learned from one of their sources close to the "Punisher: War Zone" project that Lionsgate wants a PG-13 cut to be released. It is likely that this kind of mentality stems from the results of "The Dark Knight," which is PG-13 and is headed to become the second largest earner ever. But The Punisher doesn't catch criminals, he kills them. Just look at the ultra-violent restricted trailer for the movie, which will make you wonder how something like that could possibly be converted into a PG-13 flick.

Furthermore, it seems that director Lexi Alexander has been fired from the film. This has always been considered a rumor, but if you take a look at her official website, you will see no mentioning of the Punisher movie. After being so vocal about it, all the previously posted content has been taken down.

In the new film, continuing his crusade to punish violent criminals in America, former FBI agent Frank Castle (Ray Stevenson) arrives in New York to take on an underworld boss who plots to take control of the underworld.

Automatic fail. This movie didn't look all that good to begin with. Making it PG-13 is the nail in the coffin. And it's sad, cause the cast is very talented.

Sounds like BS, That source doesnt seem like it can even be cut to PG13, you can make the violence much tamer and remove the blood(ala the first trailer) but you cant modify the story to our "hero" not being a ruthless killer during 2/3ds of the movie, sh*t like that dont fly with the MPAA for a a PG13 unless its a war movie. And just like one can point at Batman and say "Piles of money" you can do the same on a scale for Wanted, and R rated CB based(yea I know..) film, sure didnt made as much as Batman at all but Bats its a huge franchise, Wanted is more of a cult comic for wich many of the original fans didnt even cared for the loose adaptation movie and yet managed to make it rain.
