"Pineapple Express" Sequel Could Crossover with "Superbad"

"Pineapple Express" Sequel Could Crossover with "Superbad"Submit Comment
MTV News chatted with "Pineapple Express" star James Franco, who revealed that there is a possibility that fans might soon get a sequel to the newly released film. Not only that, it will be combined with the characters from "Superbad."

"Even before 'Superbad' came out, I think the studio was trying to get [Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg] to write a sequel, but they really didn't want to write a sequel. I guess the kids would go to college or something like that [that was the studio's idea]," Franco said. "And so, an answer to that was to do a 'Superbad'/'Pineapple Express' crossover, an unprecedented crossover movie with two directors, Greg Motolla (Superbad) and David Gordon Green (Pineapple Express), each directing half of the movie and somehow these characters get together, which doesn't make sense at all, but could work."

Crossovers are the big thing in the Marvel universe right now and while it would be fun to see a similar thing in the Judd Apatow-produced film, there is one problem. Seth Rogen was a major character in both films.

"I could sell them [the characters from 'Superbad'] something, but I think we'd want some action, so you know, somehow the kids get in trouble somehow and we have to get them out of it," Franco mused. "And Seth plays characters in both movies, so somehow we'd have to kill one of them off."

What would be really cool is if Dale Denton and the cop from Superbad (both played by Rogen) got into a shootout against one another and one killed the other. I, personally, think that would be pretty cool and then we would only be left with one Seth character for him to portray for the remaining duration of the film
