By now, many people have seen John McCain's ad which states that Barack Obama is an undeserving celebrity like Paris Hilton. Now, Paris put out a video of her own. Not that grainy, night-vision one, but a response to McCain. It's clever, funny and everything that Paris isn't. So, who is the brains behind this video?
Director Adam McKay (Talladega Nights, Step Brothers), the creative mind behind the FunnyOrDie website, spoke to LA Times about how he came up with the idea to get Paris to respond to McCain.
"I was literally in my car and thought Paris must respond. It's her duty as a citizen," McKay explained. "Within three hours I was on the phone with her and she was into it. Our next goal is a town-hall-style debate between Paris, McCain and that sea creature that washed up in Montauk."
He continued: "McCain made one huge mistake: He drifted into the world of pop culture. And that's Paris' world. She owns that world. So now he gets the blow back. Now we're praying that Obama does an ad with Screetch from "Saved by the Bell." Or maybe McCain's next ad about the trillions we've spent on the Iraq war while our economy falls apart will have Janet Jackson or Paula Abdul in it."
After seeing the video, McCain's people responded to Paris' energy plan (which she speaks about in the video) by telling TMZ: "Sounds like Paris is taking the 'All of the Above' energy approach that John McCain has advocated -- both alternatives and drilling. Perhaps the reality is that Paris has a more substantive energy plan than Barack Obama."
