Ridley Scott (Gladiator) and Tony Scott (Enemy of the State) are producing a television miniseries, based on the bestselling book by Michael Crichton, entitled "The Andromeda Strain." [via /Film]
The story begins when a US satellite crash-lands near a small town in Utah, unleashing a deadly plague that kills virtually everyone except two survivors - an old man and an infant, who may provide clues to immunizing the population. As the military attempts to quarantine the area, a team of highly specialized scientists are assembled to find a cure and stop the spread of the alien pathogen, code-named Andromeda.
The filmmakers were able to put together an interesting cast, which is comprised of Benjamin Bratt (Red Planet), Andrew Braugher (The Mist), Christa Miller ("Scrubs"), Eric McCormack ("Will & Grace") and Ricky Schroder ("NYPD Blue").
The two-night miniseries will premiere on A&E television on May 26th/27th and be released by Universal Home Video on June 3rd, 2008.
