Director Troy Duffy has updated his official blog with news about the sequel to "Boondock Saints." According to Duffy, the film, titled "Boondock Saints: All Saints Day," has already been greenlit by Sony Pictures and most of the original cast is expected to return. Unfortunately, Willem Dafoe decided to skip this one.
About a year ago, Duffy mentioned that the rights to a sequel have been tied up in a lawsuit, but those rights have since been untangled with the director having lots of luck on locating funding.
The story of the 1999 film revolves around fraternal twins, who set out to rid Boston of the evil men operating there while being tracked down by an FBI agent.
The $6 million movie, went on to earn only $30,000, showing up in a mere five theaters around the country. The film's DVD release helped recoup some of those loses. Whether the sequel will get a theatrical release is still unknown.
