We recently had a first look at Mickey Rourke from the set of his upcoming film "The Wrestler" and today have some footage. Before watching, make sure to turn down the volume as the sound of screaming fans over a terrible microphone will likely not be pleasant.
The footage shows Rourke as a washed up wrestler, Randy "The Ram" Robinson, at an independent pro-wrestling show in Philadelphia. The entire first half is director Darren Aronofsky (Requiem for a Dream) setting up the shot, while the second half shows Rourke smashing a window over another wrestler's head, then finally making his exit to the music of Guns 'N Roses.
"The Wrestler" centers on Robinson (Rourke), a 1980s-era star pro wrestler who has become a burnt-out shell of his former self. After he has a heart attack during a small-time match, a doctor tells him he could die if he fights again. But the prospect of a rematch with his old nemesis the Ayatollah proves too tempting to resist, even if it means risking his life.
