"The Golden Compass" Missing Ending

"The Golden Compass" Missing EndingSubmit Comment
People that have seen "The Golden Compass" noticed that the film ended very abruptly. Apparently, the last three chapters of the book, which the movie is based on, were completely ignored.

We have received several emails that the filmmakers have actually filmed a final scene that did not make it into the movie, which you can check out for yourself below. If there is a sequel, we might get to see this scene in it, according to a visual effects house, Rhythm & Hues. "The decision was made to have the movie end slightly earlier than the first book ends, so there's a scene at the end of first book, ... the plans right now I believe are to start the second movie with that scene."

At this point, it seems very doubtful that a sequel will be made. "The Golden Compass" cost $180 million to make, and pulled in only $25 million domestically, during the opening weekend.

Then thank goodness that other countries have invented money too. Do you seriously think that after international sales are completed that they will not make their money back? Movies like this are international products and the US domestic market is only a portion of that.

I actually hope a sequel will be made just to finish what we were left with. I havent read the books, but if a sequel doesnt get made, I might as well start. If you rewatch the trailer you can see clips not used in the theatrical film or this minute long clip. If this clip was supposed to be the real ending, it makes it even more abrupt. What happened to the "opening the sky" thing I heard about?
