The poster for the Denzel Washington-directed "The Great Debaters" has been released. The movie is based on the true story of a professor at Wiley College Texas in 1935, who inspired students to form the school's first debate team, which went on to challenge Harvard in the national championship.
Even though Washington is directing, it would have been his preference to stay behind the camera. Unfortunately, "they're not going to give you enough money unless there's someone of a certain name to [act in] it," said Washington.
At this point "The Great Debaters" is scheduled to hit theaters on Christmas (December 25th).
