Edward Norton Confirmed as "Hulk" Writer

Edward Norton Confirmed as "Hulk" WriterSubmit Comment
Ever since "The Incredible Hulk" movie was announced, Zak Penn was attached to write the screenplay. Then during Comic-Con, Edward Norton, who is playing the main character, revealed that he has been writing the script. Apparently, he is a big fan of the comic books and knows exactly the direction to go with for the new film.

So does this mean that Penn is out and Norton is in? Seems strange since Penn's resume includes such films as "X2," "Electra" and "X-Men: The Last Stand." In addition, he is currently attached to write the script for the big "Avengers" film. While, some of the films mentioned are nothing to be proud of, he still seems like a better fit than Norton, who has not written anything yet.

Now all the speculation about who is writing the screenplay can be put to rest. Penn spoke to Cinematical and confirmed that Norton has replaced him. "I was writing it, now Edward is," said Penn.

So there you have it, a veteran writer is replaced by a rookie. But that's not such a bad thing. Norton knows the Hulk in and out and don't forget that Norton is not your average bum off the street. The man graduated from Yale, is a talented musician, dated Salma Hayek (unfortunately Courtney Love as well) and the only actor that I can think of who started his career at the top. His first movie was "Primal Fear," for which he received an Oscar nomination. I believe the script is in good hands.

Actually Ed Norton has written for the screen before, although uncredited. He contributed to the script for his 2005 film Down in the Valley, and penned the entire screenplay to the Oscar-Winning film Frida. read about it here: http://www.avclub.com/content/node/57162/2
