“Lucky You” TrailerPosted: July 31st, 2006 by WorstPreviews.com Staff
|
The trailer for the new poker drama film “Lucky You” has been released. This seems
like the perfect time to release a movie based on poker, due to the current craze and numerous tv shows highlighting the fun of gambling. Unfortunately, the trailer
does not seem to capture that fun, nor does the film look interesting all together.
Outside of that, the cast looks very impressive, including the writer and the
director. For now, enjoy a boring trailer, depicting Eric Bana and Drew Barrymore at
a casino just having some personal conversations.
Eric Bana plays Huck Cheever, a young and talented poker player hindered by his personal demons. When he comes to Las Vegas in search of a World Championship, he meets a struggling singer named Billie Offer (Drew Barrymore). As she grows to care for him, she becomes determined to help him resolve his problems. Ultimately, Huck must tackle his fears all at once as he heads for a poker showdown with his estranged father (Robert Duvall).
Judging by the filmmakers involved, this film should be handled with competence. The
director, Curtis Hanson, is now a respected filmmaker after three consecutive
critical successes: “L.A. Confidential”, “Wonder Boys” and last but not least “8
mile”. Eric Roth wrote the screenplay for “Lucky You”, some of his works include:
“Forrest Gump”, “The Insider” and “Munich”. Other cast members also include: Robert
Duvall, Debra Messing, the unpredictable Robert Downey Jr. and numerous real-life poker players expected to make an appearance. This movie is a Warner Bros. Pictures production and the set release date is September 8th, 2006.

A very corny trailer. As always, it comes down to the final poker game and guess what, the dad and the son are the only ones left - how original. I hope this movie will be better than it looks.
