Brad Pitt has signed up for the remake of "Bullitt," as Lt Frank Bullit, the part taken in the 1968 original by screen legend Steve McQueen, reports The Sun.
Pitt had been linked to the project in 2003 but it stalled. However, Hollywood film bosses are eager to get as many movies under way as possible, with strike action by the Screen Actors Guild rumored to be taking place soon. The "Bullitt" remake is one of the projects to be given the green light, and Brad was the only man for the job.
A source said: "Brad shares a lot of the same passions as Steve McQueen — including a love of motorbikes and fast cars — so it was a dream role for him."
The original was about an all guts, no glory San Francisco cop becomes determined to find the underworld kingpin that killed the witness in his protection. The film was famous for its car chase, starring McQueen's Mustang through San Francisco.
