There have been several directors rumored to helm the sequel to "The Punisher," including John Dahl, who dropped out due to the poor script and a low budget. Even the star of the original, Thomas Jane, decided not to come back for the same reasons. So what is Marvel to do? Look for another director and star of course.
Now Marvel Studios chief Kevin Feige has revealed to RottenTomates that a new director has been found, but will not be announced till later. "We have a director," he said. "I think we'd like to announce a director and an actor together."
While Dahl and Jane dropped out due to the seemingly poor quality of the movie, Marvel is promising the opposite. "The only reason I have any interest in doing another Punisher movie is to do a better Punisher movie," explained Feige. "If Marvel thought we wouldn't be able to do that, we wouldn't make it."
He added: "Lionsgate is putting that one together with us right now. I think we'll be announcing a director probably in the near future and another star in the near future." Stay tuned.
