IESB reports that 20th Century Fox has been working on finding a director to helm the "X-Men" spin-off that will focus on Wolverine.
There were rumors that Brett Ratner, director of "X-Men: The Last Stand," might be interested in taking the director role, but apparently that's out the window and the studio is looking to bring in DJ Caruso instead. Caruso has several forgettable flicks on his resume, including "Taking Lives" and "Two for the Money." But his most recent film, "Disturbia," became a huge box office success, garnering him some attention.
In addition, the studio is also preparing a Plan B, incase Caruso backs out. If that were to happen, Fox would bring on Len Wiseman, the man behind all the "Underworld" movies and the upcoming fourth installment of "Die Hard."
Both choices seem decent, but neither is anything to get excited about. Either way, the studio better hurry up, since chairman of Fox, Tom Rothman, has mentioned that "Wolverine" would hit theaters in 2008, a year earlier than the "Magneto" spin-off. And "Magneto" already has a director set (David S. Goyer).
