Bryan Singer Says "X-Men" and "Fantastic Four" May Soon Unite

Bryan Singer Says "X-Men" and "Fantastic Four" May Soon UniteSubmit Comment
In an interview with Yahoo Movies, director Bryan Singer (X-Men: Apocalypse) revealed that there are plans for a crossover between the "X-Men" and "Fantastic Four" franchises.

"Those ideas are in play," he said. "That would be a natural match-up because they're both ensemble films and there is a natural mechanism by which to do it."

While Singer refused to give us any detail regarding how the franchises will unite, he offered a clue. "It deals with time," he explained. "That's all I'm going to say."

The helmer added that before any of these plans become a reality, "X-Men: Apocalypse" and the "Fantastic Four" reboot must be successful. "We'll have to see how the films turn out," he said. "To just say you're going to do it would be a mistake, you have to see how the films evolve before you make that decision to completely commit to that."

F4 reboot will bomb and X-Men Apocalypse will not do as well as DoFP because Oscar Isaac looks f*cking stupid as En Sabah Nur.

A crossover of these 2 franchises would be a disaster.

What a desperate attempt by fox and singer trying to catch up with Marvel Studio not to mention remain relevant as a director.

Time? Oh man they are going to milk time travel I bet because Fox saw how they could get away with so much sh*t in DOFP.

@boogiel
Well yeah, Fox has always been a desperate little turd of a studio, or at least in the last couple decades. They can't run a TV station for God's sake. They cancel any interesting show people might like (They still haven't been forgiven for how they handled "Firefly") and can't play episodes in order. And now they pretty much have X-Men movies and James Cameron flippin' the bill for them because nothing else they make can remotely be considered interesting or appealing to a mass audience.

@Sleuth

The *ssholes at Fox cancelled Almost Human and are now going to air a Minority Report series that they will cancel after a season or less.

They then think that a 10th season of 24 sans Jack Bauer is a good idea and when multitudes of fans suggest centering the new season around Tony Almeida, they don't listen to that either, instead insisting on a "young, late 20s-early 30s male lead".

I liked DoFP for Wolverine, Magneto, and Xavier, but f*ck them otherwise.

But f*ck Fox otherwise.^

@Deaft0ne
LOL Yep. Fox is in is own little world and people just watch their sh*t for stimulation. The minute "Almost Human" got cancelled I was done. I mean they are making a Sleepy Hollow crossover with Bones?! What the f*ck?!

As to why they won't bring back Tony Almeida to take over when really, after Jack Bauer, the series was his is beyond me.

DOFP was a piece of sh*t and anyone who had any common sense to all it's bullsh*t logic would say so. Watch the joke version on Howitshouldhaveended.com. They f*cking tore it apart!

I forgot who said it but let's be honest...kill them all and let God sort 'em out. Those ratings at the Academy Awards says it. Studios don't know what the f*ck people want anymore.

"Minority Report" as a show is a dumb idea to me. I feel, in Fox's hands, it would just be a lame crime procedural.
Sleuth1989 writes:

@Deaft0ne
DOFP was only decent because James McAvoy owned the role of Xavier. The man pushed his character to new limits and showed why he was a worthy successor to Patrick Stewart. But let's be blunt, Apocalypse won't sell nearly as high as DOFP because DOFP brought back the original cast, however small of a capacity, and to people that was the X-Men cast. They were still fresh in the mind of audience members. First Class couldn't beat Last Stand at the box office and suddenly it doubles it's numbers with DOFP? What do you think did that? Fox had to pull out all the stops to make DOFP a success. They keep thinking a large cast is the key and each film has gotten only more stuffed with half-used characters. Singer will barely focus on any of the cast in this new one and we all know it.
Deaft0ne writes:
on July 25th, 2015 at 4:42:45 PM

@Sleuth

Also Hugh Jackman as Wolverine is the iconic mascot of the X-Men film franchise. His portrayal is instantly known worldwide and that's why DoFP banked $750 million.

Without him in Apocalypse, a bizarre purple villain and a mostly new cast will be a tough sell to audiences.

They do have Memorial Day weekend again but after this film Marvel should get the rights back to X-Men.
Sleuth1989 writes:
on July 25th, 2015 at 4:56:45 PM

@Deaft0ne
Yeah without Jackman no one will care. But the fact is as long as Fox makes the movies they won't lose the rights. Basically all their movies have to start tanking or, in the ling of MGM, Fox will have to go bankrupt and sell the rights out of desperation. However, if the movies simply sell lower than expect, maybe like Sony they can make a deal with Marvel where Marvel gets to call the shots on casting and story.

I just can't get excited for these movies anymore. Singer has no ability to make these characters relatable. Yeah McAvoy and Fassbender are great, but besides them frontlining the two arguments in the series of war and peace, the films are full of bad romances, poor motivations, and sometimes even some questionable visual designs. X2 was great yeah and First Class was fun, but the problem with only having rights to the X-Men is you basically tell the same story of evolution and prejudice over and over. That's why marvel films are so successful consistently. They cover new ideas in each film of each superhero's series. Captain America is the most direct in terms of story evolution but Avengers have had good stories (I liked the 2nd one and feel it's real problem was pacing). Iron Man has been abck and forth and Thor still needs work but point is you get different ideas in each film. How many times can we watch Magneto betray the X-Men and Xavier and gang saving the day to prove humans wrong that mutants are bad?

@Sleuth

Also, "WOLVERINE" which is Jackman's final film as the character, is using the Old Man Logan storyline but they will have to do a lot of screenplay gymnastics to get around the fact that a majority of MCU are in that story.

I can see the film working with Dr. Doom and Magneto as the villains.
Sleuth1989 writes:
on July 25th, 2015 at 5:22:56 PM

@Deaft0ne
Yeah I know a little about that storyline. I mean Wolverine runs by everyone and their mother in that storyline. Yeah sure they can fit in Dr. Doom and Magneto but, from what I've heard, this is suppose to be the last film in this X-Men continuity. And really it would have to be because Wolverine survives everyone to a time when most people are gone. I think, if Fox actually had any dignity, it would have been a good way to end the series. Have everyone have their final bows and let it end. Sadly...Fox is not a very sentimental studio even though their films are full of an overt amount of sentimentality.
Sleuth1989 writes:

Ironically it's that very abundance of characters that will probably make "Civil War" the best of the MCU thus far. They got everyone showing up for that and new characters as well. I can't wait for that story.
