"Independence Day 2" Takes Place 15 Years Later, Same Aliens Return

"Independence Day 2" Takes Place 15 Years Later, Same Aliens ReturnSubmit Comment
The upcoming "Independence Day" sequel is currently filming. Vivica A. Fox is reprising her role as Jasmine Dubrow and has now unveiled the new film will take place 15 years after the original and will feature the same aliens.

"'Independence Day 2' is being shot in New Mexico. I just started my first week. We've got Jeff Goldblum coming back, Bill Pullman, Judd Hirsch. Sela Ward is going to play the President. Liam Hemsworth is going to be in there as well," she explained. "I just think that 'Independence Day' fans have been waiting such a very long time for the sequel, that I'm glad we're doing it. The aliens are back, and it's about 15 years later, and it's going to be amazing."

In the original film, Will Smith played Air Force pilot Stephen Hiller and was dating Jasmine Dubrow (Fox), who had a young son. Even though Smith won't return for the sequel, he had a hand in selecting the actor to play the older version of Jasmine's son. That actor is Jessie Usher.

And according to Fox, her character is no longer a stripper. "Now she's a hospital administrator and she's running the hospital and I'm glad that they moved her character forward as a woman."

Hollow movie without the original cast. Just another excuse for stuff to go boom.

Having two black actors in a movie qualifies to be a 'Blackfilm'?

Sela Ward can still get it

Now she's a hospital administrator and she's running the hospital which will help explain away all her plastic surgery

So it's the same plot with both new and familiar faces. Times were different too, Will Smith was getting relaxed in his acting career, steady but solid in each film up until Wild Wild West. It's hard to top yourself when you start off with films like Bad Boys, Independence Day, Men in Black Vs Suicide Squad and a long overdue Bad Boys 3 if Suicide Squad should perform terribly.

"Hollow movie without the original cast.."

Goldblum, Fox, Hirsch, Pullman.

Everyone major except for the kid-pimp Will Smith?

Maybe if the movie had come out 15 years ago, people would give a sh*t.
