Eddie Redmayne in Talks for Lead Role in "Harry Potter" Spin-OffSubmit Comment
Eddie Redmayne, who just won the Best Actor Oscar for "The Theory of Everything," is in talks to play Newt Scamander, the lead character in the upcoming "Harry Potter" spin-off "Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them."

David Yates (helmer of four "Harry Potter" movies) is on board to direct. He's still considering a few other actors for the role, like Nicholas Hoult (X-Men: Days of Future Past," but it seems that Redmayne is the frontrunner.

"Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them" is being written by "Harry Potter" officer JK Rowling, who is making her screenwriting debut. An entire trilogy is in development, starting with the first installment hitting theaters on November 18th, 2016. A sequel will follow on November 16th, 2018. The conclusion will be released on November 20th, 2020.

"JK Rowling, who is making her screenwriting debut."

Well that's one way to eliminate the middleman...

Considering that Eddie Redmayne was born with the worst case of "rape face" that has EVER been seen...yeah he's a good choice.

oooh Harry Potter well that makes more sense...I read Dirty Harry somehow and thought it was kinda f*cked up with such a young actor for a Dirty Harry movie.
