Disney's "Cinderella" Dominates at Box Office

Disney's live-action "Cinderella" adaptation took first place at the domestic box office, grossing $70 million, which marks the best opening for director Kenneth Branagh (Thor) and a continuation of Disney's fairy-tale success that includes "Maleficent" and "Alice in Wonderland."

Thanks to international box office, including a record-breaking $25 million in China, "Cinderella" ended up with a global opening of $132 million. Many believe the result was helped by Disney's "Frozen" short film, called "Frozen Fever," which screened in front of "Cinderella."

"Cinderella" cost $95 million to make, which means that it's already a hit. It has an impressive 84% fresh rating on RottenTomatoes.

Landing in second place at the box office was Liam Neeson's "Run All Night" action film, which opened to only $11 million, the worst opening for the actor since he became a leading action star. "Run All Night" cost $50 million to make, which means it will rely on international box office to break even.

Unfortunately, the movie only managed to bring in $6.6 million from overseas for a worldwide debut of $17.6 million. "Run All Night" has a 59% fresh rating.

Meanwhile the festival favorite horror film "It Follows" was released in four theaters in New York and Los Angeles, grossing $163,453, which is an impressive $40,863 per location. The film boasts some of the best reviews in years for a horror movie. It currently has a 95% fresh rating on RottenTomatoes.

"Dominates at Box Office"

No need for the "at", dude. Just say Dominates Box Office. There's no place named "Box Office", although said verbiage would make a good title for a Staples parody porno.

Dustin won't watch It Follows despite him being an inveterate horror fan. No fat man on fat man f*cking and no cat orgies.

FYI, we already got a modern version of Cinderella. It's called "the bachelor".

Let's wait and see about 'It Follows' - it has the same actress from 'The Guest' which was pretty good.

45 min into '50 shades of grey' - that sh*t is boring :-)

but seriously, this is a B movie made for horny teenagers and unf*cked housewives.waste of time.

so basically this is the kiddy version of 50 shades of grey.

i think cinderella was helped by two things 1) was the frozen short frozen is the highest grossing animated film of all time so of cause fans will buy tickets for this film to see that short 2) fans of the original film will want to go and see the live action version weather it'ss to see if it's any good , to see the story again or because they loved the original
