"TRON 3" to Begin Shooting in October

"TRON 3" to Begin Shooting in OctoberSubmit Comment
Back in 2010, Disney released "TRON Legacy," hoping to give new life to an old franchise. The film earned $400 million worldwide on a budget of $170 million. Unfortunately, that was lower than what was needed to break even, which is why the studio abandoned all plans to move forward with a sequel.

But now comes word that Disney reconsidered and will begin shooting the "TRON Legacy" sequel on October 5th in Vancouver. VanCity Buzz learned that Garrett Hedlund will reprise his role as Sam Flynn. It's not mentioned, however, whether Olivia Wilde will return as Quorra.

"Joseph Kosinski," who directed "TRON Legacy," will return for "TRON 3." He previously spoke about where he would like to take the story, stating that Dillinger's son (Cillian Murphy) may have a bigger role in the third film.

"Dillinger (David Warner) was a really important part of the first film and felt like an easy way to continue that storyline and thread to have his son in the new movie," he said. "That way you have people ask those questions of what the Dillinger legacy is in the world of Tron. We didn't want to ignore it completely and it leaves a really nice springboard for some intertwining development for the next film."

Just don't bring back that loser who played the lead role. Dude had less life in him than the f*cking CGI Tron cycles. Hire someone, anyone, else to lead the film.

And bring back Jeff Bridges or this is a failure already.

I'll be waiting for this one like I'm waiting for Hellboy 2, Pacific Rim 2 and John Carter 2.

http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hellboy_II:_The_Golden_Army

Hellboy II: The Golden Army is a 2008 American supernatural superhero film based on the fictional character Hellboy created by Mike Mignola. The movie was written and directed by Guillermo del Toro and is a sequel to the 2004 film Hellboy, which del Toro also directed. Ron Perlman reprises his starring role as the eponymous character. Unlike the original film, which was distributed by Sony's Columbia Pictures and Revolution Studios, The Golden Army was released by Universal Pictures and Relativity Media.

Jeff Bridges has a serious problem when it comes to have a proper elocution.

I can barely understand what he's trying to say lately.

Okay, so after Legacy underperformed, Disney got cold feet and decided not to follow up with a third installment ...only to wait 5 YEARS before changing their minds, as if the franchise fading that much further from relevancy and mainstream popularity will somehow better the box office chances.

Look, if you’re gonna build a franchise, build a franchise. Commit. Stay consistent. They shoulda let Kosinski direct Episode 7, anyways.

^ was hoping he'd be at least directing one of the sequels.

You know I know that even $400 million wasn't exactly a huge win box office-wise but I bet that half that budget was promotion. Maybe they'll use less promotion and focus just on a good word-of-mouth campaign...granted they have to make the film good first but baby steps.
