Warner Bros CEO Says DC Films are Edgier Than Marvel Films

Warner Bros CEO Says DC Films are Edgier Than Marvel FilmsSubmit Comment
During a new conference, Warner Bros CEO Kevin Tsujihara spoke about the studio's DC superhero movies and how the franchises compare to Marvel's superheroes.

"The worlds of DC are very different. They're steeped in realism, and they're a little bit edgier than Marvel's movies," he said, adding that it's the different approaches that will keep the genre from feeling familiar. "The key thing is that the movies and the television shows and the games, everything looks very different... you have to be able to take advantage of the diversity of these characters."

Even though Tsujihara feels there are big differences between the two superhero worlds, he acknowledged the value of the properties. "The big franchises are becoming more and more valuable," he said. "You don't have to explain to the consumer what a 'Batman v Superman' is."

Tsujihara joined Warner Bros. Entertainment, Inc. in 1994 to help manage the company's interest in Six Flags theme parks. While employed at Warner Bros., he focused on business development and online content. In 2005, Tsujihara was given the position of president of Warner Bros.' home entertainment unit, which focuses on the home video, online distribution and video games for the company.

So the guy running a movie studio doesn't know jack sh*t about making movies. If Warner Bros. isn't going to take itself seriously how do they expect anyone else to?

Marvel found a kid that turned a college internship into a producer's credit on the first X-men film by being an encyclopedia of comic book intel since he....wait for it....had read the comics growing up. They made that kid the head of their movie studio and it seems to have worked well for them and their billions in revenue.

Warner Bros. found a guy that grew up in a family that owned an egg business. They distributed eggs to supermarkets all over San Francisco. They then made egg boy the head of one of the oldest movie studios in Hollywood. Why not? It's not like he'll turn Superman into a murderer or anything while he makes a 'gritty,' 'real' film about a flying alien man.

Brav-f*cking-O
