Will Smith's "Focus" Takes Top Spot at Box Office

Will Smith's "Focus" romantic heist film took first place at the domestic box office with $19 million, marking of the lowest openings of Smith's career. Overseas, the movie performed just as mildly, grossing an additional $12 million for a worldwide debut of $31 million.

"Focus" cost $50 million to make, which means that has potential to become profitable, but it didn't succeed in proving that Smith still has the power to cary a film into success. "Focus" has a 56% fresh rating on RottenTomatoes.

The other new wide release of the weekend was "The Lazarus Effect," a new horror film that cost $3 million to make and opened to $10.6 million, which was good enough for fifth place. The new movie stars Olivia Wilde, Mark Duplass, Evan Peters and Donald Glover. It has a terrible 14% fresh rating.

Meanwhile, "Fifty Shades of Grey" is should cross the $500 million mark globally within the next few days.

Is this the movie where he gets into Robbie's pants?

Whore.

Did anyone think a movie with the terrible title of The Lazarus Effect would actually do good?

Check your grammar, Alex.

And Will Smith still has time to reinvent himself.

He needs to do another Bad Boys, a sequel to I Am Legend, or some other high-concept flick.

No more M. Knight trash or Hitch-like bombs.

Get it together, Will.

For whatever reason (boredom, I guess) I saw this Friday. It was okay. Not as edgy or as sinister as it could’ve been; too much of the romantic comedy aspect got in the way of dangerous stakes. Also, con-artist movies are at this point all but self-negating.

But it was still entertaining precisely because of the two leads. Smith is Smith, in his element. And Robbie has no short of personality. If nothing else, her performance does that much more to encourage how potentially good she’ll be as Harley Quinn.

He turned down Django Unchained because.....he didn't understand that Django was the lead character....in a film called Django Unchained. LOL!!!!

He can always go back to dropping rhymes. Go on Will. Remind us how parents just don't understand or some other edgy sh*t straight off of the streets of Philly.
