More Details on Marvel's Spider-Man Deal, New Spider-Man to be Younger

Posted: February 11th, 2015 by WorstPreviews.com Staff
More Details on MarvelSubmit Comment
Marvel and Sony Pictures recently announced that the two companies made a deal to let Spider-Man appear in Marvel movies in exchange for Marvel helping guide Sony's upcoming "Spider-Man" reboot as well as allow for Marvel's superheroes to appear in it. Today, we have a few more details.

It turns out that there was no exchange of money and that each company would keep all the earnings from their films. Both companies simply felt that this deal would increase everyone's revenue. And while it's not clear how, Marvel is using this opportunity to put itself in a position to reacquire the film rights to Spider-Man one day.

As predicted, Spider-Man will first appear in Marvel's "Captain America 3: Civil War" on May 6th, 2016. He'll then get his own solo film on July 28th, 2017. Marvel and it's head Kevin Feige will help guide the Spider-Man reboot. "The Amazing Spider-Man" director Marc Webb and its star Andrew Garfield will not be brought back. In fact, franchise producer Avi Arad and Matt Tolmach will be demoted to executive producers, which would keep them from making creative decisions.

Regarding casting, it has been decided that the new actor playing Spider-Man will be younger than Garfield (31). While the superhero will be in high school, the plan is to skip the origin story. Casting is already underway.

Even though "The Amazing Spider-Man 3" is officially cancelled, Sony is still moving forward with "Sinister Six," "Venom" and a female superhero spin-offs. Feige will not be involved with the three films. It's not clear what level of involvement Marvel will have.

Spider-Man should be played by a Jewish actor again, so Logan Lerman.

@BadChad

Lutz is out of luck because he is 30 next month.

Lautner just turned 23 today.

But rumor has it that Marvel wants Logan Lerman or the Maze Runner guy for Parker/Spider-Man.

The most important element though is bringing JK Simmons back as J. Jonah Jameson, something that Kevin Feige and many others support.

Rambo-

Been searching for my father for 22 years! Couldn't believe you've been in this site the whole time lol

I can't believe they're rebooting spiderman AGAIN. Seriously, who reboots a series twice in less than 20 years? Ridiculous if you ask me
Deaft0ne writes:
on February 11th, 2015 at 12:06:12 PM

@Tan

Yeah but when Spidey is in the Civil War film he will already be established as the character. No origin needs to be shown at this point.
Sleuth1989 writes:

@Deaft0ne
Well Mission Impossible 5 was simply because they moved it up from end of the year to July. Can't wait for it more honestly! I figured they move it into the crowded summer they must have real faith in it and it's a series that finds a way not to disappoint ever.
Sleuth1989 writes:
on February 11th, 2015 at 12:16:34 PM

@Deaft0ne
In the Civil War, it's ironic since Peter parker is actually in his 30's and married I believe which is why he reveals his identity to protect them. I honestly felt Tobey Macguire would have been appropriate to come back at this point as a college professor, married to MJ, and the first three movies (Okay first two) would have served as his backstory. It actually would have made sense.
Sleuth1989 writes:
on February 11th, 2015 at 12:17:13 PM

Will say however I am SO f*ckING GLAD that Avi Arad is out. He has almost single-handedly f*cked up this series.
Deaft0ne writes:
on February 11th, 2015 at 1:25:06 PM

@Sleuth

Yeah Avi Arad is a smug f*cking douchebag and a sh*tty producer. He should just be fired completely from these forthcoming films and have zero involvement whatsoever.

Marvel, nor Sony need any of his money to make these films.
Deaft0ne writes:

*Do not need any of his money^

@Deaft0ne
We must admit he was one great. He almost single-handed lay jumpstarted Marvel films but, and maybe it.'a not just him because of this, but the guy is trying to keep up with the MCU and that meant trying to make SM a modernized icon and an expanded universe. Unfortunately my generation may be to blame since it was by out demand. If so...I am so sorry we put you all through this! LOL
