"John Wick" Sequel in the Works

"John Wick" Sequel in the WorksSubmit Comment
Keanu Reeves' "John Wick" thriller was a surprise hit of 2014, grossing $79 million on a budget of $20 million and hanging on to a RottenTomatoes fresh rating of 83%.

Now that the film has been released on DVD and Blu-ray, directors David Leitch and Chad Stahelski revealed that they are already working on a sequel. "We know we can outdo the action from the original," said Stahelski.

He continued: "It's the matter of story and how much you like the character. That's always the most important. If there's great action but you have a character that no one likes and doesn't have charisma you're not going to watch it. Look at any great action star, whether it's Harrison Ford or Liam Neeson or Robert Downey Jr, pick a name, you love the guy first. Good action, bad action, you just love them in action. So we want to make sure we have a story and a character that everybody loves and then we'll dress it with action that we promise will be awesome."

At this point, it's not clear whether Reeves would reprise his role in the sequel.

Of all the movies to make a sequel to, this isn't the right one.

No sequel to A-Team, no sequel to Hellboy II, no sequel to...but they make a sequel to one of the worst action movies ever conceived and executed.

Yeah, it's "stylish", if Bekmambatov-esque cinematography can be called that, but it was also monotonous, insipid, poorly directed, poorly acted, boring and silly.

The terrible CGI blood squibs for every one of the six hundred headshots was also annoying.

The only thing worth watching was the cute dog, which died in the first ten minutes.

Horrible, laughably, ugly stupid little movie.

Biggest disappointment since Prometheus, which was the biggest disappointment since Geraldo Rivera opened Al Capone's safe.

Sounds like this franchise will become the next Taken.

A sequel???????????

I saw this cinematic abortion last week and fought thru turning it off multiple times. Good action can sometimes save a movie, but not this time.
I think the director had a single goal in mind: set the record for most head shot kills in a movie by one character, but have EVERY single bad guy incapable of doing the same feat. Hell they couldn't even headshot Dafoe when he was at their mercy.
Definitely will never see the sequel as there is nothing left plot-wise for this character.

I watched Punisher: Dirty Laundry with Thomas Jane and that kicked way more ass and it was only 10 minutes long.

83% on rotten tomatoes??? wtf is wrong with people? lol

Doesn't need a sequel, but I'd probably watch one
