"American Sniper" Breaks Super Bowl Box Office RecordSubmit Comment
"American Sniper" once again took first place at the domestic box office this weekend, scoring the biggest Super Bowl weekend gross of all time with $32 million, narrowly beating the previous record-holder "Hanna Montana/Miley Cyrus: The Best of Both Worlds Concert Tour" ($31 million).

"American Sniper" has now earned $316 million worldwide, easily becoming the biggest war-themed film of all time, surpassing "Saving Private Ryan." It has a 73% fresh rating on RottenTomatoes.

Out of the new releases, "Project Almanac" sci-fi movie landed in third place with $8.5 million. Since it cost only $12 million to make, it's already considered a hit. The movie was originally set to open a year ago, but producer Michael Bay wanted to get certain things just right. It has a 35% fresh rating.

"Black or White," starring Kevin Costner and Octavia Spencer, ended up in fourth place with $6.5 million. It cost $9 million to make (some of it coming from Costner himself) and has a 36% fresh rating.

The last new wide release of the weekend was "The Loft" thriller, which was also supposed to be released about a year ago. It landed in tenth place with only $2.9 million. The $14 million film is officially a flop. It has a disastrous 5% fresh rating.

Well, Michael Moore says it sucks, and so does Maher, so that must mean everyone else is wrong.

On the flip side, the First Gorilla says she liked it.
