Joss Whedon Wanted to Direct a Female Batman Movie Before "The Avengers"

Joss Whedon Wanted to Direct a Female Batman Movie Before "The Avengers"Submit Comment
Joss Whedon has been in the news lately for accusing movie studios of sexist for lack of female superhero films. We know that he was working on a "Wonder Woman" movie at one point, and just revealed that before he accepted the task of bringing "The Avengers" to the big screen, he was set to direct a film similar to "The Dark Knight," but about a female Batman.

He explained: "I was thinking about, well, if I wasn't going to do 'Avengers 2,' what would I want to do? Of course the first thing I thought of was turn-of-the-century female Batman. Not Batman actually. But, you know, something cool. One person. Can't stress that enough. Movie about one person - not a team, not 10, just one. But [I would] do a nice hard action movie that combined all my favorite things."

Whedon recently said that he will not return for "Avengers: Infinity War," which will be directed by "Captain America: The Winter Soldier" duo Joe and Anthony Russo. He will likely stay will Marvel, but it's still not clear if he's planning to direct anything else for the studio.

Only because he's a big bald homo.

Typical stupid white liberal, thinking the world needs a female version of a masculine character.

GO watch female golf, you big ugly fag.

In other (much shorter) words, he wants to do to Batman what he did to Van Helsing.

Clever ginger rat you are, Whedon.

Go f*ck yourself, sh*tterdome, and take your terrible movies and television with you.

I think you mean sexism, Alex, and how is it sexist to not make female comic book movies when chicks don't dig comic books and their related films? It's a guy thing, really. And chicks have plenty of f*cking films already. They're even ruining Ghostbusters, which was once an all-male franchise.

Really, it's like that old complaint that black people don't have enough of their own films.

Anyway, whatever. Eventually white guys and guys in general won't have a current film to their collective name because lesbian black bitches will own all the roles.

f*ck you Hollywood and your liberal disease, which is one good reason why I never pay to see any of your films.

"just revealed that before he accepted the task of bringing "The Avengers" to the big screen, he was set to direct a film similar to "The Dark Knight," but about a female Batman."

Uh huh. Sure. I seriously doubt WB was going to give you the rights to make a Batman film at the same time Nolan was doing his award-winning crowd-pleasing thing with the Batman universe.

Perhaps some coke-addled janitor at Warner Borthers or DC proffered that insane idea, but there's no way you were ever "set to direct" it.

Liar. Or Alex is just a terrible writer.

If he ain't directing Avengers, the top-tier Marvel property, then he'll either produce, or helm more challenging, obscure material.

Durrrr.

Maybe he'll re-do Hulk.

One should hope mink realises that people simply do not care about opinion.
Despite the fact mink has stated several times that he's not into films but he loves to post stupid/racist comments regardless.

Whedon should focusing on an all female avengers movie.

Actually, I completely agree with "Minkowski" this time.

But also, Whedon is moronic by not acknowledging the very long-running Batgirl character. I did not read the entire interview with Whedon, but for him to neglect mention of a very well known character created in 1961 is just inexcusable.

He's a tool to speak as if he would be inventing the character, unless he was just trolling the interviewer.

Also, Buffy the Vampire Slayer was a great TV series and arguably the best work that Whedon will ever produce.

It had 7 nearly flawless seasons and ended on a high note and did not overstay it's welcome at all.

I never watched Angel and I don't care about the Buffy comic series, but the show was excellent.

Van Helsing otoh, was an okay film and "Minkowski" comparing THAT to BtVS as if it was better than it in any way is just laughable.
