Disney Wants to Reboot "Indiana Jones" with Chris Pratt

Disney Wants to Reboot "Indiana Jones" with Chris PrattSubmit Comment
When Disney acquire "Star Wars," it also got the rights to the "Indiana Jones" franchise. And while the initial plan was seemingly to have Shia LaBeouf become the new Indy, the studio is now considering going in a different direction.

According to Deadline, Disney is currently at the early stages of bringing another "Indiana Jones" installment to the big screen. But it won't be Harrison Ford reprising his role. Instead, Disney is eyeing Chris Pratt (Guardians of the Galaxy) to take over the part in order to rebuild the franchise around him.

The last film in the series was "Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull," which hit theaters in 2008. It wasn't loved by critics, but ended up grossing $786 million worldwide.

And by that I mean no way this dude appears in a reboot of Indiana Jones. Wasn't even that great in GotG. Virtually no Personality, really.

I'm trying to think of something else to say, because that's my game, but I have nothing.

Don't care about Indiana Jones, don't care about Chris Pratt, who has no value to me as an actor. He's just a bland name and a boring face.

They made three of these movies which worked, and one that didn't. Harrison Ford is Indiana Jones and he was the films' spirit and core. He's old now, duh, so his days in the role are over. No one can replace him. If Disney goes ahead, they'll just make IJ into another lackluster CGI romp like Lone Ranger, John Carter and PoTC.

No thanks.

And I think Star Wars is going to be far more of a let down than people expect. Sadly, people just can't let go of the past.

You just can't recreate magic on demand.

@Mink

You say you don't care about Indy, BUT if you could cast anyone who would it be?

Also, do you actually like movies, as you always slam them when they come out, not being a prick, but just curious to know is all mate

Here's for you, Alex:

The real mink liked John Carter.

Chris Pratt will be fine as Indy, Peter Quill is a deliberately similar character.

Harrison Ford is too f*cking old now.

Back when this was on TV there was no public internets for whiny nerds to bitch about another actor playing Indy.

What a f*cking stupid idea.

"Damn the last installment made only close to a billion bucks, we'd better change the lead actor, that'll help"

Logic.
Deaft0ne writes:

@Tan

Yeah but Crystal Skull was filmed back in 2007 when Harrison Ford was 64 and he will turn 73 in July.

By the time a new movie starts filming dependent on Chris Pratt's availability which will likely be in 2017 at the earliest, Ford will be nearly 80!

Another sequel with Ford will not have the draw that Crystal Skull had because that movie had the anticipation factor with Last Crusade being released nearly 20 years before that.

The movie was weak and mostly just a nostalgia trip/vanity project for Ford, Lucas, and Spielberg.

It was a fan-service-centric production that did not amount to a good film.

A new lead actor as Indy, a good director, and a well-written story by anyone EXCEPT George Lucas is what the franchise needs, not remaining stuck in the past.
Deaft0ne writes:
on January 28th, 2015 at 5:41:57 PM

Also, if Pratt is casted as Indy and when filming starts, he will be 38, nearly the same age that Ford was when he began filming Raiders of the Lost Ark in 1980.
swoooop writes:

Its photoshopped to hell, but the picture boogiel posted actually looks good. If we want more installments of Indiana Jones, we eventually have to accept a recast of Indy. I would love to see Indy kick the as of the nazists again. They make the perfect villans.

@knightbitch

Yeah I would assume a teaser for MI:5 will drop soon but it's too late for Paramount to buy ad time for the Super Bowl because all ad deals are finalized in early to mid-January.

Chris Pratt ain't a bad choice to take over tbh. I can think of a lot worse actors out there (Shia don't forget was supposed to take over). If they want to keep Ford in it, have him as a cameo reminiscing about his earlier days, and keep it set during the 1930s. Like others have said, that's the best setting for Indy.

Yes I know. I was thinking about coming back when you where all dead, but I picked up smoking again, so I will probably die first.
