Marvel and Sony Discussed Spider-Man Joining "Captain America 3"Submit Comment
There has been a lot of news coming out of Sony Pictures after hackers leaked endless amount of internal documents and emails. Today's news is about the studio's "Spider-Man" franchise, which has been struggling in theaters.

According to several October emails, Marvel reached out to Sony to see if there was a way to include Spider-Man in Marvel's third "Captain America" movie. Sony responded by offering Marvel the opportunity to produce a new trilogy of "Spider-Man" movies while Sony retains creative control, marketing and distribution.

Talks eventually broke down and Sony is now moving forward with more "Spider-Man" installments and spin-offs based on villains.

But as early as late November, Sony was planning a January event where future plans for the Spider-Man franchise would be revealed. Among several projects is an animated Spider-Man comedy that would be produced by Chris Miller and Phil Lord, the directors of "22 Jump Street" and "The Lego Movie."

The rumor getting me excited is rumor they are asking Raimi to return to "Spider-Man" which be crazy but amazing if it happened. Make Spider-Man likable again.

Is this news leaked from the North-Korean hackers?

Raimi had his time in the sandbox with his Spider-Man trilogy and ironically he f*cked it all up with his 3rd film with Sandman as a villain.

I do not believe a word of his about how Sony "forced him" to include Venom in the 3rd one.

Sandman is boring as sh*t and Venom is the cool awesome villain. The Sandman retcon where he killed Uncle Ben was blatantly retarded too.

As for Raimi coming back, it will never happen. You never f*ck your ex-f*ck-buddies again do you?

Went to see the newest and last Hobbitt movie yesterday and was very surprised !
One of this years best flicks and the best in the triology. It was even better than all of LOTR movies !!
Good fun , nice battles and the scenes with Smaug in the beginning were even better than in Desolation !

Why the f*ck would Marvel want to poison their franchises with Sony's garbage?

Sounds pretty desperate.

" Today's news is about the studio's "Spider-Man" franchise, which has been struggling in theaters."

You mean STRUGGLED. It's not in theaters any longer, except maybe in Burma or Nigeria. Maybe.

"Sony responded by offering Marvel the opportunity to produce a new trilogy of "Spider-Man" movies while Sony retains creative control, marketing and distribution"

In other words, Marvel trump up the cash, while Sony have full control and take the bulk of the profits... I wonder why talks broke down.

finished 'Gone Girl' - 7/10 , rosamund pike made this movie interesting,great performance. Affleck was just Affleck - tired,wooden and boring.some interesting twists though the ending was meh.

@Rambo

I do think it should win the oscar best adapted screenplay because I read the novel on a 7 hour trip and this was after I saw the film and it was adapted very well.

@deaf

don't know if it will win,the academy usually prefers more 'based on a true story' crap material.
