Best of...The Grand Budapest Hotel and Birdman, I guess. Lucy was sh*t, The LEGO Movie was gay. Nightcrawler was just amoral.
That's it. Wait till the Oscars anyway because no one but Vladimir Putin reads TIME magazine anyway.

I guess You are referring to Grand Budapest.
Actually saw it already and disliked everything except the cast !
Not really my type of movie .
The tone and pace reminds me too much of Life Aquatic and Moonrise Kingdom ;)

Nightcrawler was meh and very unrealistic and Jake G's performance was very overrated. Just a bizarre and oddball film that does not deserve any nominations whatsoever.
He was way better in Zodiac and Prisoners if that helps.

The first of the worst should have been the over-blown, over-long, and over-done INTERSTELLAR!! Why no one had the guts to stand up to Nolan and tell him the movie he was making was pure dung, I don't know.
What our tip-off should have been is Nolan's obsession to "2001: A Space Odyssey", another over-long, incomprehensible, metaphysical hoo-hah from another VERY over-rated director!
Nolan: Somewhere in the 10 hours (it seemed) mess of yours there may be a good 2 hour movie.
Get over yourself, swallow your pride, admit it was self-indulgent crap, and try and re-cut it for DVD.
(But watch, this mook will release an EXPANDED cut for DVD!
I used to admire his work!

Jake G was great in Nightcrawler but that movie was the most overrated piece of sh*t of the year.

|
|
 |
Deaft0ne writes: on December 6th, 2014 at 8:24:25 PM
He was ok in it but it was a drama-fantasy of a film. It's illegal for news reporters to use police scanners and the first time he filmed inside a house with dead bodies he would have been reported by police by any local news agency with even a smidge of integrity.
Other lapses in logic include the guy he robbed of his construction materials in the beginning and his friend at the end being shot instead of him.
He then gets away with everything at the end and sets up a f*cking sequel.
The movie is only acceptable if you decide that all of it is taking place inside Jake G's head while in a coma.
It was a preposterous and stupid film.

If you can't enjoy the year's most entertaining movie, you're just sad
Nightcrawler was fking hilarious in a lot of bits. Sure it is a showcase of unethical bullsh|t and impossible stuff but i see a lot of similarities between it and the likes of American psycho as well as deeper films like Taxi driver.
Gyllenhall and Rene Russo are quality. And the music is absolutely banging!!

Deaft0ne writes: on December 6th, 2014 at 9:20:18 PM
@Serpico
The majority of Nightcrawler was boring and dull. f*cking far from being the most entertaining film of the year.
That honor would go to Edge of Tomorrow and Guardians of the Galaxy.

Sleuth1989 writes: on December 6th, 2014 at 10:09:32 PM
@Deaft0ne
Edge of Tomorrow just wins for being one of the best put together films this year! The cinematography was top-notch, working with the time jumps back-and-forth that he has. The acting was great with Cruise showing a stupendous evolution and Blunt being emotionally sour but dramatically impactful. Paxton and Gleeson were great supporting players and the ending, while many argue against it, was simple yes but a good ending, making it seem like his Lieutenant rank means something now. It's symbolic of his growth I think.
