10 Films Remain in Visual Effects Oscar RacePosted: December 6th, 2014 by WorstPreviews.com Staff

  The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences announced that 10 films remain in the running in the Visual Effects category for the 87th Oscars. Members of the Visual Effects branch will now be invied to view 10-minute excerpts from each film and then narrow the list to five nominees that will compete for the Oscar.
Check out the list of the remaining films (in alphabetical order) below. The final list of nominees will be revealed on January 15th, 2015 and the actual awards show will air on Sunday, February 22nd, 2015 on ABC.
* Captain America: The Winter Soldier
* Dawn of the Planet of the Apes
* Godzilla
* Guardians of the Galaxy
* The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies
* Interstellar
* Maleficent
* Night at the Museum: Secret of the Tomb
* Transformers: Age of Extinction
* X-Men: Days of Future Past

Give it to Interstellar. At least they didn't throw every bit of CGI and VFX at the film just to see what would stick.

Interstellar has been almost unanimously praised visually so easy one there. Transformers will always get possible nominations because, sucky stories aside, the visual effects are beyond brilliant. And finally, my bet is on Dawn of the Planet of the Apes and/or The Hobbit. Both are war epics with heavy visual effects.

Did not see Intersteller and probably never will.
Transformers was a mess. The Hobbit looks like all the other LOTR movies and Guardians and Godzilla f*ckin kicked ass !!
