Christian Bale Says He'll Never Work With "Terminator Salvation" Director Again

Christian Bale Says HeSubmit Comment
In a new interview with Christian Bale, the Wall Street Journal brought up the topic of working with director McG on "Terminator Salvation," which will forever be known for Bale's on-set meltdown, a CG version of Arnold Schwarzenegger, being PG-13 and being the lowest-grossing installment in the franchise (not counting the original).

Here's how the interview went:

WSJ: I read that when you first sat down with the director of that film, McG, you told him that nothing you'd seen in his filmography suggested that he had what it takes to do that movie.

Christian Bale: Right.

WSJ: That's brutal. Directors have egos.

Christian Bale: Ah, yes. Yeah. But he goes, "Give me a chance. Everyone needs to evolve, and I need to turn over a new leaf. And please, you must've been in this position before yourself, when someone has taken a leap of faith on you," which I have "please do that for me now; I promise you, I'm ready for it."

WSJ: So what do you think, having given him a chance?

Christian Bale: (Pause) There's a lot of room for many approaches and many characters within the film industry. I won't be working with him again, but I wish him very well. Okay?

Does anyone want to work with McCheese?

Salvation wasn't that bad. The direction was decent, at least, but the plot and story were goofy at best and Sam W is so bland an actor he dilutes the strongest films. He's insipid. Also, no actual Arnie which really ruined it. So you can't blame McCheese.

I also like how Bale thinks he did the film any good even though he's hardly in it and most of his role is serviced by copious yells, scowls and sharing the screen with nobodies like Chelchin who drag the film farther down.

Bale's talented, but he's also a d*ck. Just ask his mother.

Well McG is a terrible director so I don't really blame him.

Wow.

That's a pretty d*ck thing to say. Bales a very good actor, but that doesn't give him the right to think he owns and runs the movies he makes. Always figured he was a jerk but sh*t, even though McG is possibly one of the worst studio directors today.

'Salvation' was a watchable flick but at the same time forgettable. weak characters and plot.some nice action scenes but this franchise is nothing without James Cameron and Arnold.

He dogs him now because it sucked hard at the box office...

Wonder what excuse he'll give against R. Scott if Exodus: Gods and Kings flops?

How the Bible story is told/ entertains remains to be seen, but this was grossly miscast, IMO.

Not that I care about defending McG or the movie, but that's a cheap f*cking shot and downright nonsensical. It's either the lowest-grossing film of the franchise ...or it isn't. You don't get both.
