"Inside" Directors Hired For "The Texas Chainsaw Massacre" Prequel

"Inside" Directors Hired For "The Texas Chainsaw Massacre" PrequelSubmit Comment
We've been hearing about a new installment in "The Texas Chainsaw Massacre" franchise, called "Leatherface," for a while. And now comes word that things are moving forward.

Julian Maury and Alexandre Bustillo, the duo behind "Inside" and "Livid" horror films, have been hired to direct "Leatherface" from a script by Seth M. Sherwood. Filming is expected to begin soon for a late next year release.

It was previously reported that "Leatherface" will be a prequel and focus on the title character in his teenage years. He resides in a mental institution until he joins a pack of fellow patients who all break out and go on the run from the authorities.

Another one of these sh*tty f*cking films. Why, god, why?

I haven't seen one of these movies that didn't suck. The original is probably the absolute worst imo.

I'll wait for Leatherface Begins, Leatherface: Origins or Leatherface: Man from Rawhide. Which ever comes first.

This worked really well for Hannibal Lector, didn't it?

lmao.

Let's focus in leatherface as a sperm and how he " killed" the competition.

They already made one called Leatherface:

Channing Tatum for Leatherface

Are they going for the record of most prequels in a franchise?

@Tan

I honestly cannot keep track of them anymore. The last one was supposed to be set right after the end of the first original film but that ended up being only the first ten minutes!

After that it was in present day again and another terrible generic slasher flick.

I agree with fink. The original and the next 3 films are confusing, muddled piles of sh*t.

The remake and the beginning were much better films.

I really do not see the point in making this prequel. The last one only made 47 million against a budget of 20 million.

What producers still feel that there is demand for more of these and what fans out there are clamoring for it?

I liked the remake.
But everything afterwards sucks sh*t.

Wasn't there already a f*cking prequel ? Why remake it ?

Re:

The Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Beginning is a 2006 American slasher film and a prequel to 2003's, The Texas Chainsaw Massacre. The sixth installment of the Texas Chainsaw franchise was directed by Jonathan Liebesman and co-produced by Kim Henkel and Tobe Hooper (co-creators of the original 1974 film), the film went into release in North America on October 6, 2006. The film's story takes place four years before the timeline of the 2003 film. It stars Jordana Brewster, Diora Baird, Taylor Handley, Matt Bomer, and R. Lee Ermey.

Originally, the film had the subtitle The Origin. New Line Cinema had to pay $3.1 million more than expected in order to keep the rights to the franchise after Dimension Films made a large offer to buy it from the original rightholders. The film grossed less than half of what its predecessor had grossed.

I stick with the Tobe Hopper classic and say "f*ck off" to the rest.
