Ghostface Will NOT Appear in "Scream" TV Series

Ghostface Will NOT Appear in "Scream" TV SeriesSubmit Comment
When "Scream 4" hit theaters, the plan was to make a new trilogy. Even though lots of actors were brought back and the film was once again directed by Wes Craven, "Scream 4" only managed to earn $97 million worldwide, which is almost half what the previous lowest-grossing "Scream" installment earned.

Clearly fans no longer care about the "Scream" franchise, which is why it was a bit surprising when The Weinstein Company announced that it partnered with MTV and Craven to turn "Scream" into a TV series.

Now comes word from Fun World, the company that owns the rights to the Ghostface mask, that the upcoming TV series will not include Ghostface. "I had been in communication with [The Weinstein Company] regarding this and they have informed me, that as of now, and during the initial launch that Ghostface is not involved in the new format," said Fun World's RJ Tolbert. "They also indicated that because of this direction, it does not mean that Ghostface will not be involved at a later date. However, as of now, there is no involvement."

He continued: "We believe 'Scream' is Ghostface and Ghostface is 'Scream.' Regardless, we wish [The Weinstein Company] the best of luck and I'm sure 'Scream' fans will check out the series. Who knows what will happen in the future regarding the series and Ghostface. Never say Never."

Reminds me of making a Bstman television show without Batman, or an Avengers television show without The Avengers....what's next? Reality television without cameras? Postmodern cinema is starting to piss me the f*ck off.

But really...whatever. Fail.

Do us a favor and finish the trilogy don't f*ck this perfectly fine series because you are just lazy. There is still many great ideas for this franchise not invoking a f*cking tv show.

@dark

There was already a Scream trilogy and the 4th one bombed as the article clearly says.

It simply did not make enough money to justify 2 more films to complete a 2nd trilogy.

Although not having Ghostface in a Scream TV series will be like Friday the 13th: The Series not having Jason Vorhees in it and it was totally unrelated to the films.

I meant the second trilogy.

A tv show would be trash .
