Back in 2012, Sony announced that it hired Genndry Tartakovsky (Hotel Transylvania, "Dexter's Laboratory") to direct its upcoming 3D animated "Popeye" movie. Then earlier this year, we got our first look at what the character will look like thanks to the 2014 Licensing Expo.
And now, the studio has unveiled a new video, showing Tartakovsky working on the "Popeye" movie. Check it out below to see an animation test that gives us an even better idea of what to expect.

Just what the world needs: a 3D Popeye movie. I)t can go right nex to to that Hot Wheels movie and the Stretch Armstrong crap.

Met a homeless guy one time who looked Popeye. Small guy, shriveled mouth, pumping his fists...probably better an experience than anything we will ever get from a 3D animated Popeye movie...too bad Williams had to go and Smurf himself, though. He would have been perfect for the voice. Guess they'll get Rogaine or Shia to do the voice acting instead....

No one cares about the homeless dudes you butt-f*cked, fake Minkowski.

Looks sh*t. I hate Popeye. Bet they add an alien invasion plotline and he has to team up with Bluto to save the planet, and everyone learns something.

Hell yes I remember that film. Good God. I'm so old I may start getting discounts on stuff. The star from My Favorite Martian played his father. And Wimpy would gladly pay you Tuesday for a hamburger today. And I believe it was a musical, but I can't seem to remember any of the songs that were sang.
No tats and no pipe ... okay, even for a die hard Popeye fan, I can understand in this P.C. age of wanting to appease families and especially kids ... but no spinach ? Have you no shame ?
All things considered, I suppose it is for the best that Robin Williams can't see this, since he starred in Altman's musical live-comedy about the beloved sailor in the 80's. Poor Shelly Duvall, though. She has to witness this.
They said that even Olive Oyl is getting "modified", which means she finally won't look like an anorexic fifteen year old transvestite boy and probably get Pamela Anderson-Lee's old saline implants.
