Today we have the first photo from "The Sea of Trees" drama, starring Matthew McConaughey, Ken Watanabe and Naomi Watts. Check it out below.

Plot: Arthur Brennan (McConaughey) treks into Aokigahara, known as The Sea of Trees, a mysterious dense forest at the base of Japan's Mount Fuji where people go to contemplate life and death. Having found the perfect place to die, he encounters Takumi Nakamura (Watanabe), a Japanese man who has also lost his way. The two men begin a journey of reflection and survival, which affirms Arthur's will to live and reconnects him to his love with his wife (Watts).

The new movie is directed by Gus Van Sant (Milk, Good Will Hunting). A release date has yet to be announced.

Nah. Surfer boy in Japan. Worse than Tom Cruisein Last Samurai.

Cruise in.

Gus van Sant is a decent director, and Watanabe isn't bad, but Surfer Boy ruins pretty much every thing he's in, with a few exceptions.

He should have taken on the role of Body in the Point Break remake.

Yuo I won't be seeing this.

"The two men begin a journey of reflection..."

Yeah. Uh-huh. Two guys meeting in the woods has 'closet corporate fags' written all over it. I mean, just look at that picture: McConaughey sitting there all tenderly, waiting for his lover...

@Cannon
That is the closest to the "Deliverance" jokes I was expecting from that plot synopsis. LOL

If it's only half as good as The Hunted i'm gonna watch it !
Love that movie !!
Btw i know it's a different genre !!

@BJ

Yeah but William Friedkin directed The Hunted and it came off like a pale imitation of The Fugitive and they even had Tommy Lee Joned.

Gus Van Sant otoh is usually a good director with only a few weak films, while Friedkin has only about 4 really good movies.

This sounds interesting.

I know , but itīs one of my guilty pleasures that critics and the crowd hates but I canīt stop enjoying.
Love the kali martial art performed in the movie and because of Benicio Del Toro itīs much more interesting and badass than Futigive, that is an ok movie ( always thougt about it as a crossover of First Blood and Futigive ) .
I like the warscenes and really understood the leadcharacters and what drove them !!!
BJsforeveryone writes:

...hmmm !!!
Not crossover... Mix Perhaps !
Deaft0ne writes:

@BJ

Yeah but The Fugitive is way more rewatchable. Harrison Ford owns every scene he's in.
Cannon writes:

@BJ

I, too, am a fan of The Hunted, but not merely as a guilty pleasure. It's a genuinely well-crafted action thriller with some of the most realistic fight scenes in film.

Zzzzzzzzzz ... know McConaughey, they should've renamed it the "Forest of Weed"

I am watching The Fugitive now. Great film.

Most realistic fight scenes I have seen in a long time and quite brutal :)
