Denzel Washington Wants to Play James Bond

Posted: September 9th, 2014 by WorstPreviews.com Staff
Denzel Washington Wants to Play James BondSubmit Comment
While promoting his "Equalizer" film, Denzel Washington took questions from fans on Reddit. One of the questions was whether he would like to play a superhero, to which he hinted that he would love to star in Marvel's "Black Panther."

Apparently there's another role he would love to play... James Bond. He said: "The next James Bond? They better hurry up. Yes, I would. Who's doing James Bond now? Daniel Craig. Did they shoot another one? Everybody should tweet Denzel is James Bond. Send it to the studio. We start the Denzel is Bond campaign today."

Just like with the "Black Panther" role, Washington feels that he may be too old to play James Bond. And he's not the only black actor who wants the role. Both P. Diddy and Idris Elba have expressed interest in playing 007.

Good for him but it'll never happen.

No, just no

Sounds like old man bucket list to me. What he would have like to have done, what he shold have done. Just live in the now, do the best you can with what you have. And besides, no one wants an old black African American Bond. Bad enough with Scarface doing it at the moment.

You've to admit: Alex has a sense of humour at times.

He can't possibly be serious! Not that he's black of course but simply he's not Britiish! And good luck catching the English accent old man.

You might as well give it to Liam Neeson while you're at it. (I know, he's from Northern Ireland).

And P. Diddy!? Bwahahahaha! The biggest black wanker out there.

You're really funny Alex.

After Dan Craig, I haven't a clue who'd a) do it a) want to do it b) who's actually good enough to do it! Coming from a born and bred English man, personally an ethnic bond wouldn't work

And BTW, Idris Elba will never be more than Luther or whatever he did for Marvel. End of story.

And before someone mentions Michael Fassbender, let me remind the sh*te he was in the Counselor so no f*cking way.
Papillon writes:

propermelt writes:

Pap

Elba is great as Luther, but not a chance as Bond, it's too big for him. Agree on Fassbender too.

Always thought Clive Owen would've been a decent Bond
tolgaboy writes:

He can play the father?
boogiel writes:

First he wants to do Black Panther, and now James Bond. What's next? Superman?
boogiel writes:

Denzel as Bond. Uh-huh. The name is Bond, Jamal Bond. Sheessh! If that's the case then maybe Denzel should play Bond and Daniel Craig should play MLK.
Papillon writes:
on September 9th, 2014 at 9:32:45 AM

@proper

To be honnest, among the British actors out there, I really don't know who can be the best replacement at this stage. Craig signed on for two more films which means the studio has at least 4 years to find the most suitable Brit but no clear names comes to mind yet.

Clive Owen? Hm, perhaps but he didn't convince me in Killer Elite as he was supposed to be an SAS member but that's just me.

Exactly, there isn't anybody!

BJ

Mark Strong would make an awesome Bond villain, great call fella!
zyban03 writes:

Why does he have to be British again? Connery, the best Bond imho, was Scottish.

Michael B. Jordan for Bond.
Tanman32123 writes:

It'd be interesting, no doubt and I think he'd kill that role, but honestly, he's a black man. Name one series that changed the character from white to black and had it actually work.

And if so compare that to a huge character like James Bond. Also, f*ck off P-sh*tty, you can't act
zyban03 writes:
on September 9th, 2014 at 10:44:07 AM

Not a series or a huge character like Bond, but Denzel did a hell of a job in Man On Fire.

Samuel Jackson does an OK job at Nick Fury but still this isn't as big as Bond either not too mention this is a comic series.
propermelt writes:
on September 9th, 2014 at 10:54:39 AM

Tan

Zyban got it, The Hoff as Nick Fury, then Sam Jackson, miles better!
Patrick Bateman writes:
on September 9th, 2014 at 11:39:34 AM

I'd rather get Timothy dalton back instead of denzel.

Mark strong would be a good Bond villain or even Colin firth would be an interesting twist
elrei writes:

The new Minkowski only posts early, then no follow-up conversations throughout the day, as he always did...hmmm.

TrentReznik writes:

P.Diddy? , when P.Diddy expressed interest in the role, did he do it with a straight face?. I honestly think the likes of P.Diddy should express a role in a hotel in the mountains where he can be kitchen porter for the cellar. Preferably spending 99% of his time in the actual cellar.
Deaft0ne writes:

Yeah I think it's likely that alex is impersonating mink or has been him all along. Because now mink is literally posting first as soon as alex adds the updates.

Mink would have to be refreshing the page over and over in the middle of the night to achieve this which is preposterous.

Or alex is notifying mink in some way when he will add updates. Either way, something fishy is going on.
Deaft0ne writes:

@cress

Lol, it's as if mink is a program now that does not require any sleep. It's hilariously absurd how he gets firstees on the night and morning updates both. The original minkowski never did that iirc.

I noticed that as well, mink Used to always follow up on conversations. He hasn't done that much lately. But I still think its him
propermelt writes:

Guys this is probably exactly what he wants, to be the topic of discussion! He's probably balls deep in Alex, or vice versa right now
Papillon writes:

Let's not forget one important thing here: Mink is a mad man! A total nut case and a bloody sociopath. Not to mention all those fake accounts he used just because he was bored out of his skull!

Now he's talking to himself just to play the car "I'm still here"!

Like I give a f*ck!

Denzel is to old. "Idris Elba" is tailor-made for this role and destined to play this part! A lot of folks keep talking about "Michael Fassbender" but in all honesty both Fassbender and Daniel Craig both look the same and also have personalities that are to similar Aswell. I'm not sure there would be enough distinction between those two.
Deaft0ne writes:

@curbdrooler

Michael Fassbender and Daniel Craig look absolutely NOTHING alike.

You're a f*cking idiot. But that was established on here long ago.

Ray Rice also wants to be the next bond.
Max Rockatansky Junior writes:

Okay. So instead of saying, "I would like to play Black Panther", which he never did, he wanted to play James Bond ?

I say why not ? If old codgy Sean Connery could steam-clean the wrinkles out of one of his headrags and play Bond in "Never Say Never Again", which was never considered actually part of the Bond canon (but every Bond fan KNEW was based on Bond) in the 80's, why not Denzel ? I'm sure he could perfect an English accent.

That's why Sony/MGM have no plan to take a meeting with him when "craigs" two film contract is up you stupid uninformed dipsh*t!!

@Cinemaisdead

Normally, I would say something trite to make fun of your response and then insult, but I am thinking about what you've said. So this response is not snarky or insulting, but thought out:

James Bond is a member of the Majesty's Secret Service, so it should be ANTICIPATED that James is British (according to the books written by Ian Fleming), but TECHNICALLY, an American (Jewish no less) already played James Bond. Woody Allen played James Bond (along with Peter Sellers) in the original James Bond spoof (based on Ian Fleming's book Casino Royale) in the 60s.

So if we are merely dealing with semantics, an American actor that can really act, is physically fit and can handle romantic scenes that can also handle a British dialect should be just as capable to play James Bond as a British actor.

That being said, there have been British actors who have played characters created in the United States: the lead in Homeland, Jax on Sons of Anarchy and the last Batman, for example. Hell, even Ray Stevenson played the Punisher.

Now, if I had a "dream" list of who could pay James Bond, I suggest either Ray Winstone or Brendan Gleeson.

They have great acting chops and can handle action very, very well.

Oh, and Sean Connery ? Scotish. Pierce Brosnan ? Irish.
